  1. Hi there, I'm trying to contact anyone who frequented the above coffee bar in the period 1958-1962. Situated above the THREE TUNS Pub it was the prefered hang-out for the Art College and Art School crowd. run by a slim bearded guy called Graham Bullers and a German or Austrian lady called Elfi. from my own research it seems Graham emigrated to Canada at some point and sadly passed away a few years ago. he was also the owner of Donitas Restaurant. I spent many happy hours there and it was a hugely social crowd. I remember particularly Jeff ( or Geoff) Brooks and his stunning girlfriend Rhonda (

  2. Some great memories of one of Nottinghams greatest institutions and I still remember my mother's dividend number ! I remember popping into this wonderful building, (parking directly outside just off the Maid Marion Way roundabout), in order to collect the various TV's and 'Audio Centres' that were ready for delivery to their new owners all over Nottingham. Nobody seemed to bat an eyelid as we balanced expensive Colour TV's, precariously, on the steel railings as we loaded our vans! 3. I used to hang around with some young Teds from Radford Blvd area back around 1958. Met them at St Margaret's Youth club dance nights on Aspley Lane. They were intimidating but really nice guys when you got to know them. The leader of our group was a Ken Trout and I remember that his older brother ( i forget his first name) and another character called "Big Bev" were Senior Teds in Radford. One night I went with friends to a dance in Bulwell and waliking back to the bus stop I was jumped by the local Bulwell Teds, but luckily for me one of them recognised me as being Ken Trout's mate and they

  4. Arnold Mill To save space, I'll not copy posts one and two from above but save to say, I'm attending a course on Arnold history currently and last evening there were some interesting and quite amazing claims about Arnold Mill related to the account and pic from those posts. The following image was shown. The drawing was made shortly after the mill was demolished and is the only one available. http://www.picturethepast.org.uk/frontend.php?action=printdetails&keywords=Ref_No_increment;EQUALS;NCCC002383&prevUrl= The mill was the biggest in the UK at the time it was built and there

  8. Yes, there is also the story (supposed to be true) that a UK transport minister enquired of his French counterpart how on earth they managed to build their TGV lines, without getting bogged down in everlasting planning applications, judicial reviews and what not. His superb reply, completely overlooking the double entendre, is said to have been, "When we wish to drain ze swamp, we do not consult ze frogs."

  9. Compo, re #41, I think that the music shop which was next to Pearsons store was Farmers Music, but can't recall whether this was at some stage amalgamated into Pearsons. Anyone throw any light onto this?
