  3. A couple of days ago I was walking in the Standard Hill/Friar Lane area near the castle. Even though there were quite a few people around (mid-morning) I looked down on the pavement and found a £20 note. Obviously new out of a cashpoint, just been folded once. Immediately transferred to my pocket to prevent it falling into the wrong hands.

  4. I bought a little leather wallet at a church jumble sale for 50 pence. I wanted to keep a folding keyboard for a pocket organiser in it as it was quite thick. My wife identified as Hermes so it went on eBay and sold to buyer in Japan for just over £150.

  5. Every Sunday morning my grandma did bacon sandwiches (with the bread dipped in a frying pan of tinned tomatoes) and a pot of tea for the 2 Co-op milkmen who did the deliveries round our way. As a kid I would wake up to the smell of frying bacon and go downstairs to chat to Mac and Alf (and later Joe). Years later after she died I bumped into Mac (still a Coop milkman) who remembered her fondly. I remember they sent a wreath to her funeral. When she sent me to buy anything from the local Coop store she always made me remember her Coop number so she didn't miss out on the divi! I'm 65 now and ca

  8. I watched "Truckers" tonight, as did some of my mates here in Ireland, and I've been inundated with messages how great the City of Nottingham looked. It makes me all the more appreciative of the city I was born in. The episode was good, had a few laugh out moments, just hope episode two goes from strength to strength.

  10. Hi Chris, you and Briyeo are most commendable for the project you are undertaking............................ When I was a young girl the Victoria Station was something beautiful to behold. I remember the time when steam became diesel and feeling the loss deep within. I also remember the time when the Victoria Station was first threatened with demolition and feeling that sense of loss again. It is therefore remarkable that you and your acquaintance will one day make this once vast structure of Victorian Gothic architecture live again!

  16. Don't get on to me, I'm still just learning! Posting 45 was an experiment to see if I could still remember how to unbucket my Photobucket, and it worked. I've had to re-post this because for some reason the original postings No. 13 & 33 have been deleted. What it shows is Ellis School teachers autographs from 1956. Now let's see if I can download the picture of cricket team from posting 16.

  18. Most probably need to clear the browser cache. Cache is where the browser stores data to save having to go and get it again. This really screws up when the data has changed. Some browsers assume that whilst the content may change, the IP address of a website is static, so "why do I need to go and get it again". Clearing cache is known in the trade as "Giving it a quick kick up the backside".

  19. I did 5 years nearly for Co-op. I started in 1974 at Beechdale Dairy. I did two rounds at Sherwood to start with and another one around Alfreton Road through to the Arboretum and beyond. The latter was remarkable. I remember walking around the machines in textiles factories looking for whoever paid me. There were even women who thought they could pay me in kind. Not a chance! I later progressed to Bestwood Park Estate before transferring to the Co-op dairy at Long Eaton. From there I did rounds at Wollaton including Balloon Wood flats, Stapleford, Sandiacre and country rounds at East Leake

  20. There is a Youtube video showing a GWR Hall that has overshot the turntable with the rear tender wheels coming off the back. It is pulled back on by another engine and then the turntable appears to be aligned to the exit track by manual means. This doesn't mean it wasn't once operated hydraulically in the early days of course, things change over time. The turntables in TS2014 work as if by magic, you just press the G key on your keyboard. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dz3pyEKkEY I think my friend has that book on Friargate Bilbraborn, it is pretty hard to get hold of these days I believ

  21. It isn't Google Chrome - I have been running it for years with no issues and changing ISP could be a major problem. A more likely issue is the DNS server. Usually you default to your ISP's DNS server, but you can point your computer to a different one, which can give better results. I was having an issue with several web sites (including Nottstalgia) with my old ISP, I talked to my son about it and he suggested changing the DNS server - I changed to the Google DNS server and it solved all the issues - page loads were faster too! (It is still set to Google DNS). Here are the instructions to

  23. There is one drug very few mention, it's legal, heavily taxed, and abused big time, mostly by the younger generation...Alcohol! I knew someone who's liver was shot, but went against his Doctors orders and continued to abuse alcohol. He was found dead in his apartment caused by his liver giving out.
