The sense of entitlement many youngsters have these days. Get out and earn the bloody things you want and pay for them yourselves. Parents. Parking where they want at school run time because "they are too busy to walk the kids to school" or whatever this weeks excuse if for being badly organised. I have vague memories of going to have my haircut during the mid 1950's at a place called "Henry's" off Wilford Road. Does anyone remember this place or have any photographs. In my minds eye I can also see a sign that said "Slipper Baths" or something like that nearby.

Thorn Bendix manufactured a whole range of industrial electronic equipment, including machinery for the sugar industry, wired tv (assume that was the very early forerunner of Virgin Media), Textiles and there was a Defence Dept. I was the Chief Engineer’s Secretary and worked for all of the design/development engineers in those departments. This is a very young me supposedly demonstrating some sort of textile measuring equipment ........ hadn’t got a clue what I was doing, but was told to hold that and that and sit still. Every house should have one, it might stop a few burglarys, and people would feel a lot safer at home. Might even get back to the days of leaving your door unlocked.!!

Finally beginning to feel a bit better. I've barely left the house since last Saturday. Am literally 'coughing better' but still very little appetite and no energy. Still losing weight.. but I welcome that. Apart from a couple of little bottles of 'Bud' Thursday night, I've not touched the Booze since last Sat. I was told last year that I have a bit of 'Fatty Liver' Disease. Read today that it can be reversed by stayiing off the booze for 2 weeks. Working on that. I'm finding all this abstinence surprisingly easy. Bit like when I stopped smoking. Once you decide.. it's easy.
