Before the indignent hand wringing liberalists and self righteous start their protestations, let's just get one thing straight. The dead criminal deliberately set out to rob yet another old couple, and was fully prepared to use violence in the process. For these misguided delusional supporters to condone his actions shows the utter contempt they have for a normal civilised society, and as such should be looked upon in the same light.5 points

It just shows what obedient folk we are... we see a notice which tells us we can't go in somewhere and we just accept it! (Until I tried my luck - I must have a disobedient streak in me!) I haven't tried it, but will it upload new pics?4 points

Good post, Ian ..... I don't believe we should ever make sweeping statements about groups of people, whether they be of royal blood, unemployed or homeless, and that also applies to various ethnic groups, and of course, travellers. I have had several traveller friends over the years and have always tried to see each one as an individual, the same as anyone else. Of course, there are people in most, if not all, the groups mentioned above who 'abuse the system' to varying degrees but I don't believe that 'tarring everyone with the same brush' is the answer. There, I've said my piece and3 points

Just come off the phone with Mrs Catfan's uncle who now in his mid eighties worked at players all his life & he told me the entrances were inside No 1 factory on Alfreton Road & in the yard in No 2 factory on Radford Blvd. Huge massive places he said where you could actually go down in No 1 factory & surface in No 2 factory yard ! Out of interest all Players factories had air raid wardens stationed on the factory roofs during the war. Players bonded warehouse on Triumph Rd was at the time the highest building in that area !2 points

I believe Post Image are trying to get back on their feet, apparently "Cloud Flare" have pulled their pants down. I would willingly pay a subscription to PI. Photobucket were much different, just holding everyone to ransom.2 points

People see a sign saying 'free for 1 hour' & like me think "that's good" & it's human nature to wonder off not thinking to read the smaller print notice board. I wonder if they employed a human behavour psychologist to come up with the idea. I know a lot of firms waffle on in their small print T&C's knowing most people wont read them, then when Mr/Mrs Public complain they point to paragraph 93 subsection 42 where it says "you will be conned & screwed whatever you do."2 points

Think it's the same in all town centers colly,it seems the local councils don't want cars in their towns/cities,Lincoln car park fees are expensive and the local councils keep asking the question "why don't people shop in the city", open your bloody eyes council and stop being greedy, the new bus station in Lincoln is a joke, people queuing up in the walkways because there is only eight seats for waiting passengers in each bus park, main door facing east so it gets the cold wind, like a fridge in there and 20 pence to go to the toilet, all designed to get even more money from the public, when t2 points

About same distance for us to go to Hucknall or Bulwell, so will go to Bulwell in future so I wont get caught out again. Hucknall own goal as far as I'm concerned. They're always moaning people wont go shopping to Hucknall town centre, I wonder why?2 points

I know quite a number of people in the traveling community, all very decent hard working law abiding Christian people. Don't tar all with the same brush.2 points

Arnold council car parks are just the same, free parking first hour or so but take a ticket first. Nottingham City Council discussed car park charges in Bulwell a couple of years ago but with them there would be NO free period of parking, the council need every penny they can scrape to fund their pet white elephant, the tram ! Make no mistake charges will be introduced in Bulwell in the future, I can't see the council missing an easy opportunity to make even more money. Then Tesco & Wilko's will clamp down on motorists using their car parks but not spending money there.2 points

I noticed that colly a couple of weeks ago, hucknall just doesn't help itself and won't attract people there, died a few years ago, whilst bulwell is thriving with its free parking, seldom see a traffic warden in bulwell,2 points

Let's set the record straight regarding categorising different groups and classes of people into the revelant boxes. There's good, bad and indifferent in every walk of life, from royalty to street cleaners. Things have been like that since the creation of civilisation, and will never alter. I'm certain that all Nottstalgia members appreciate this, and form their views accordingly.2 points

Thanks for letting us know . It's very odd , it almost looks as though what Jennifer has written about Johhny Carrington on her FB home page (link above) was meant to have been written here on this thread . Jennifer on her page was also wondering about her grandfather (Johhnys dad) also a boxer called Seaman Carrington who boxed after WW1 and into the 1920s . She believed he died in the ring but that doesn't seem to be true as in the 1940s he was a street barrow boy selling fruit and veg outside of St.Peters Church . He died in 1947 . Memories..I too started with a Garelli Monaco scooter, then a BSA A7, eventually buying a new Norton Commando. I used too hang out at the Hart, I rode a 250cc NSU at the time-tearing up the Boulevard. I am still a keen biker at 71, regular in Matlock on my Kawasaki ZZR1400 and also ride my 1990 ZZR1100 (recently restored). We had a bike club in the 60s based at the Ashley Methodist youth club called the 77.1 point

That is normal in Long Eaton and in Beeston. Thing is you don't know the first hour is free until you have gone to the ticket machine with coins in hand to read how much to cough up.1 point

Fly is quite correct however my views are not generalisations or a myopic view based on hearsay. I’ve said on here before I live and let live until something makes me see things differently. My views are shaped from personal (and sometimes violent!) experience. Perhaps they could redeem themselves by apologising and coughing up the £108,000 they cost the councils last year1 point

Reverting to the FLY2 post re Ant & Dec and the misplaced sympathy being asked for by Dec for his mate, the lawbreaking Ant. I read now on the BBC website that floral tributes placed outside a house for a burglar who was killed during his act of burglary have been removed. Surely any sympathies ought to be directed to the victims, not the perpetrators.1 point
