  1. Right LL. How did you guess? We are back home now, on the way for 6.30am, home by 9.15am, just one stop for a sandwich. Not one cream cake has passed my lips today.........but there is time.

  2. You were subjected to such an ordeal after being arrested for "thoughtcrime", the act of THINKING or HOLDING unspoken beliefs or doubts that were opposed by the totalitarian state. In 1984 the past and history were erased, the erasure was forgotten and the Lie became the Truth. To be fair to this Forum and our implicit agreement to no political discourse, I draw no conclusion as to what is happening in the UK right now but leave that thought for you to ponder upon, but be careful because thoughtcrime exists now.,

  3. I don't get to see my sisters much these days, but whenever we are together walking, we would always link arms, or walk with an arm round each other, and sometimes even hold hands. We would kiss on meeting and departing, and we love each other. I'm not stopping it now, but I know what it might look like to people who don't know us. Mind you we all look alike, so perhaps you can tell we are sisters.

  11. Lived on Ryeland Crescent, across from the nursery school. Then went to Colleygate Infants and then on to Trent Bridge Juniors. Chaplin, headmaster? Introduced me to the cane, would send us to wash our hands in hot water straight after - made the pain worse! Formidable Mrs Carty who had a version of a cat o’ nine tails but used a slipper instead. Milk monitor was a perk cos you could stay in the classroom during break and mess around with girls. Marbles, bulldog, cards, tennis ball footy and winter slides in the playground. Great footy team, Area champions in 68! (Seem to remember we were join

  15. So many hostelries have gone from this whole area. Many Public Houses were from before my time- many of these i was lucky enough to sup in!The Moulders on Bovill St. A place for a Nut Brown with my Gran. and a great springboard for another venue. This is 1976, The Queens on Alfreton Road- i dated a fine thing who worked at JLMS up the road..served as a meeting place.on the opposite corner...a coppers bar in my time, The Forest Inn..a tied Shippos house..now a mini market.Built on what was originally Windmill St. This place always seemed dated..and the guests smoked owt' bar name brands.in

  21. I frequented the Clock in the '60/'70s when I lived nearby. Always was a decent pint in those days. I made a delivery there about 7 years ago for a builder & the "Clock" still appears to be thriving, nowadays ran by a Jamaican fella. Another pub nearby was the "Le Grande" at the bottom end of Alfreton Road, good entertainment in the upstairs room & unusually a Mitchel & Butler pub. Nowadays a Muslim mosque of all places.

  22. The Clock was a cracking well run pub when Kenny Denis was gaffa, I was still operating, dropped in a few years ago after Rock & Reggae on the Forest, remember someone greeting me like I was his long lost mate, not a scooby do who it was?

  26. A bloke asked me yesterday & I noticed his expensive trainers ! A polite refusal ensued. Agree about the beach, one of the best I've seen. The town center back streets are very poor though.

  28. This Nottstalgia thing is getting serious. Yesterday I went online to the Forest store and bought my 4 grandkids some shirts from the sale. 2 X 17/18 season at 5 quid each and 2 X 16/17 season at 3 quid each - what a bargain! Trouble is it cost more than that to ship them. I already have the polo shirt (its getting a bit washed out) but imagine the 5 of us all kitted out walking down Beale St, singing some very inappropriate song, when they next come to Memphis

  29. Returned home today from Blackpool. Had a smashing time with lovely weather. After an absence of 42 years not sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised, town center is a bit like the wild west but half a mile up the coast was excellent. Had a bus ride in Tuesday to Lytham St Annes thought we might bump into carni & Chris but after checking all the fish & chip shops & ice cream parlours they were not to be seen. Anyway will go back again hopefully . Proper trams. Never find a phone box when you want one then 8 turn up toget

Lived for years, remember one day it not looking to clever floating on its side, me Mam emptied the fluid out of that squezzy thing from the Earex bottle & filled it with brandy & gave old Terry a few shots, swam around upside down for while, but next day was all fit & well lived another couple of years, amazing. Cheers Mam x

  31. Here's a couple for Trogg: 1. Central Caithness; showing Achscorriclate (derelict for many years) and the Caithness Alps and 2. The area of moorland behind Dunbeath in the south of the county. The golden hue in the first photo is caused by the setting sun behind me:

  32. I have a vague memory of going to the Noel St.rink that would be during WW2, It was packed, I can't skate & didn't try! I also remember being in Malta in '47 and visiting 2 outdoor rinks, side by side about the size of a 'bowling green', one for roller skating & ballroom dancing in the other, a 'live combo' played the music for both. PS Neales building had a "Sold" notice on it yesterday!
