  1. Really sorry to read this Ayup but I’m not at all surprised by your decision. The troublemakers on this forum have a lot to answer for. Thank you for your endeavours to keep control of things and hope you will continue to look in ...... if, indeed, Nottstalgia exists for much longer. A very sad situation.

  4. @ Tompa, "How do you get to be an Admin" First Mick has to know you and trust you, he's known me since he started this site, he also knows I'm owner and Admin of a site older than this one, so he could check on how I run that site. So far his only criticism of me is I'm not tough enough, other than that he obviously trusts all his moderators, the rest he's met many times in person, I'm the only one he hasn't met yet, but hoping one year he visits the states, he will drop by my place and spend some quality time with myself and my wife, maybe do a bit of target shooting and downing a few

  5. Also, be well prepared for criticism, and dealing with people who possess different views and opinions.

  6. This is not the site I joined all those years ago, no longer able to post what you want "within reason" admin and mods frightened of upsetting snowflakes and thin skins, the delete/hidden button is all too easy to use these days, what has happened to this site? What has happened to proper Notts folk, losing their identity thats what, no longer allowed to have an opinion and say things how they are,I don't agree with posting hurtful things but come on Nottstalgia get a life, "Think before you "Delete/Hide" Rog

  7. So, if I understand correctly the posts I put on here is decided by Admin and Mods and their opinions as to what is suitable, so what happens if Admin & Mods have different opinions. I have seen many times posts on here that should be " Hidden or " Deleted " All seems a bit hit and miss. One member on here, (no names no pack drill ) posted content that Admin or Mod disagreed with and was told off , and not only that it was there for all to read, which I and many others thought was very unfair.

  9. Rog,the 67 carried on up Green Lane as far as the junction with Manor Farm Road/Langstrath Road. The buses would pullover to the wrong side of Green Land and then under supervision of the conductor they would back into Manor Farm Road , before pulling back out on to Green Lane to wait time at the NCT clock. I can still recall the juddering sound that the drum brakes made when they were applied at the end of the reversing manoeuvre, caused by the shoes protesting about operating "against the grain".

  10. Somebody call. WBUDC's last new vehicles were single deckers, three AEC Swifts numbered 43-45 (NAL 543-545F), which NCT took into their fleet as 704-706. Mick At least one if these was at Bulwell during your time there and was often used on the paddy.(Translation for non bus workers, the paddy was the staff bus that ran after normal services had finished to get bus workers back to their homes.)

  16. Done plenty of drilling out of the brass rivets, removing old linings and re-riveting new linings myself, quite an art to get the rivets lined up correctly so they sit in the counter sunk holes level, that was when the linings had a lot of asbestos in them, no wonder my breathing is shot Rog

  17. If I remember only NCT went via Clifton Bridge, where's Deepdene when you need him ?

  18. Just wondered because when I was a kid and living at Clifton the buses were NCT,South Notts and West bridgeford, NCT and South Notts had single deckers but can't remember any WBUDC,, I think all if not most West Bridgefords were low deckers because of the Wilford lane GCR bridge, can never remember any of them going over Clifton bridge Rog

  26. Just to get back to the Shamima Begum case before the delete/hide police start hitting buttons, has anyone thought that with her being a vulnerable 15 year she was let down by the British establishment in allowing her to be brainwashed by some terrorist organisation and why as a minor was she allowed to leave this country unaccompanied by an adult, don't think I'm defender her,I am certainly not and believe this country is better off without such heartless,UK hating people,It's just a question that has not cropped up in this thread Rog

  31. Newport County - Manchester City one day Notts County the next, and I reckon the Stags felt sorry for them and didn't try too hard. I wonder if that has ever happened before, playing the side at the top of the league one day and the very next game the side at the bottom of the league.

  35. Forgot to add the South Notts buses also ran out of Huntingdon street, i think all of those buses went to Gotham,East Leake or Loughborough via Parliament street,London road, Wilford lane,Clifton lane,Gotham lane,If I caught the South Notts from Parliament street (near NCT offices) I could get off at the top of Farnborough road,I lived about halfway between that bus stop and the 68 terminus so had a choice of of buses to get home on. I remember now the 67 reversing into Manor farm road, was it the 61 and 61a that reversed into Summerwood and the 68 into Pastures avenue, I used to live just up

  41. Beware the Derby "Duck" thieves. On a coach trip through Europe recently a small group of Derby folk were telling the rest of us Nottingham folk that "ayup me duck" was a Derbyshire saying. Even in hotels and restaurants they were trying to get the waiters to say "ayup me duck" and telling them it was Derbyshire lingo.
