  1. This is worth a read. I make no claim of authorship and not having permission to reprint it I offer only the link. I'm not pointing fingers at anyone in particular, you must judge for your self the relevance of the article. https://www.learning-mind.com/attention-seeking-behavior/

  3. That is really intricate Nonna. Post the dragon when you are able I would be interested in seeing it. I will try to post a picture of my water dragon which us my favourite if I can remember how to do it. When I am doing them I always like to get the eyes done as quickly as possible makes them seem more alive. Oh dear that sounds a bit creepy

  7. ID, you mentioned it initially. You made comments last autumn about being broke, and you now mention a Spanish Purchase. How can that be my fault ? Everyone else reads most things you know ! You cannot expect to post personal details, then stick your arms up in horror if anyone else mentions them.

  8. Yes. He definitely bays when he's hunting. As soon as I let him out the backdoor he's across the yard baying usually half way up a tree because a Squirrel just ran up there. If he's inside he mostly barks like any other dog but a bit high pitched.

  11. Finally, getting grape vines planted, 4-Cayua, 2-Edelwies, 3-Neptune and 2- Concorde I grew from cuttings last year. Started a grape vine nursery and when I prune them next years will set the pruning's in pots to raise more vines. Going to take wild grape vine cuttings later this year too, although the grapes are pea sized, due to the fact they are out of control, I've read they make good wine, in fact there's a winery farther north of me that just grows cultivars of the native wild grapes, and have won a few prizes in wine fests.

  14. Is it true that Beagles can be a bit noisy? They bay rather than bark or is that just when they are hunting? They are nice looking dogs, always look happy. Must admit one of mine has his moments - he looks at you and you can see him thinking “I know you called me but I will just do this first”.

  17. Nottingham is full of other things besides photos and pubs. Its full of people who like to live a peaceful life and post interesting things . Maybe its not interesting to others but they always get a response. Nottingham does have a lot to offer. People, who work in hospitals, community service (the right side of it) people who listen , people who talk, are they happy, sad , rich or poor, they have families and are maybe struggling to raise their children. People who help others. Aren't they more important than finding fault and commenting unnecessarily about simple posts.

  18. What a crafty girl you are, SG! I used to do a lot of knitting and crochet but don't do any now. When my mum was alive in her last few years in the 1990s, I used to knit cardigans for her, making up my own simple fairisle patterns on part of them. I also crocheted a bedspread from oddments, as she really felt the cold in her later years. When I was at secondary school, a group of us used to do knitting during the long midday lunch breaks - I remember knitting a shocking pink one with a black pattern on the yoke, also a lime green, red and white one!! By the time they were

  23. Not exactly buying at the door but in 1989 we had just moved into a new house . We had bought the house with the restaurant. One day someone knocked on the door and told me that the ch needed something or other .He told me it was against the law to keep it like that I can't remember exactly what it was or why but I told him to carry on and put it right.. When my husband came in he went berserk and told me never ever to buy or even talk to anybody who came to the door. I explained everything to him and he didn't think it sounded correct so he phoned the local police who were actually friends. h

  25. Out walking my boys today and they made 2 new friends, a beagle and a beautiful Bermese Water Dog. He was gorgeous, only 8 months old but very calm and friendly. He was very handsome, had legs like tree trunks and enormous paws and stood as tall as my two boys. Dog greetings over we talked to owner, he already weighed 40kg at 8 months old, the same as my boys at 8 years old, will weigh in excess of 50kg when full grown. I had never seen one in real life just on tv rescuing people from water. I was really taken with him, as were my boys afraid the beagle didn’t get much of a look in, could have

Wasn’t doing much that afternoon so thought why not. Chap came round, seemed pleasant enough and boy could he talk. Told me all about the firm, never heard of them before, explained what they would do, had videos and graphs, showed me samples of materials used, starting to get bored now. Eventually he had a look round outside of house, kept calling me outside to ask questions and point things out. Explained how much scaffolding would be

  28. Browsing they old posts I found this one, don’t know if anyone will be interested but here goes. I knit, crochet and do counted cross stitch. I enjoy crosd stitch, find it very relaxing and do it whilst listening to my podcasts. I have some of my creations framed and hung on the walls in my front room. I have a thing about dragons, collect dragon ornaments, and have 4 large cross stitch ones on my walls, they are earth, fire, water and I think the fourth is air(?). I also do animal ones as well, cats, foxes, wolves (one of my favourite animals) and also teddy bears suprisingly. I like doing th

  34. The bedspread was only made of hexagons stitched together..... each hexagon was very simple to do, just starting with a ring and consisted mainly of trebles and single chains. SG you mentioned dragons.... my eldest grandson (nearly 22) likes painting models of dragons. He has done creative writing at Uni and says doing the painting allows him to think about what he wants to write! I've only once done any cross stitch and that was an advent calendar for one of the smaller grandchildren. It was a kit and had little pockets with Christmas items on in cross stitch. T

  35. That is absolutely beautiful. As I said I am only doing basic doubles and trebles at the moment. I am hoping to be able to do things like that with the help of the expert in my craft club, she taught me a new stitch on Friday which I am practising. It is so satisfying when you do something like that.

  36. My dad died when I was 10 and he 79, which meant he was born in 1876, right in the middle of the reign of Queen Victoria. Whilst no means a cruel father, he was certainly a strict disciplinarian, believing in the principal that children should be seen and not heard. His attitude towards women was unwavering, they were the fairer sex and placed on a pedestal. My upbringing therefor proved ideal preparation for the rigours at the Mellish but hardly for the working environment of the swinging sixties. My first job was in the Export Department of Raleigh Industries, an office full of mainly young

  37. Then why be hypocritical, and moan if he's reminded of his posts. I haven't a clue how to quote, or I would have. I've a good memory though. If folk don't want stuff common knowledge, then don't post it. Quite frankly, a lot of members are fed up to the back teeth of folk being over sensitive when reminded of previous posts. It's as though they despise even the of mildest criticism.

Good ride this morning, weather was quite nice, warm ish and clear with no wind, coming back up the cycle/footpath back to our village and lo and behold a bit of inconsiderate car parking, this one is parked just round a sharp bend in the path so couldn't spot it till the last minute, the only way to get passed it was to either go across the muddy grass or go out into the road, apart from that it was a pleasant ride This picture was taken in the village hall car park about 100 yards from the inconsiderate parker And this one is our new village hall which
