In Nottingham yesterday I noticed the Streetview car around the Broad Marsh area, obviously updating their pictures. I deliberately stood at the side of the road so that, with any luck, I might now be immortalised with a blurred face.3 points

Thank you Margie, I promise to sort out some other work for you. Another one of my hobbies is narrow boat art, (roses & castles). Only just started to pick up my brushes after a break of about twenty years. I'm on the lookout for a milk churn to paint. Will keep posting, if CliffTon doesn't mind helping me out. Cheers B.3 points

I'm not sure how old Dick was but not a big age for sure. Mid to late 60's I guess. He was quiet liked a drink and smoked too much although he'd stopped smoking shortly before he became ill and checked out. He'd always chat when I saw him in the Pheasant especially about computer programming. Nice chap. I respected him as he did very well for himself as he came here as a penny less refugee. Next door to at No 4 was a small woman who lived with a tall chap who I believe was her brother or some relation. Never knew her name and we always referred to her as lipstick as she always had bright Crims3 points

My claim to fame with Nottingham castle was that I had two paintings hanging in there as part of an exhibition of art from Coal board employees. Sometime in the eighties. Beekay.2 points

Most indigenous Fen dwellers have got blurred faces. It's genetic. Those with the non-blurred faces are the incomers!2 points

I have had an upset stomach all this week, presumed it was an IBS flare up although I haven’t had one for a long while. Just checked the side effects of my thyroid medication and it says it is one. I have been taking them for a few weeks now and it has only just started although it seems a bit easier this morning, the “ache” has gone at the moment. I am hoping it will settle down as it does say side effects go as your body gets used to the medication and the last blood test showed it is starting to work. Hopefully this will be the case as I don’t want to have to take something to counter the s2 points

I knew I was asking for it. Lol. There's a guy on the organ forum I'm on chose the login name....Myorgan....He should have known what he was letting himself in for. Edited to add....Carni.. Physio is fine but in your case it does sound like it agravated some issues and at that point I think you have a right to say, Enough! In my case they are trying to rebuild the muscle -- brain connection. I wouldn't say I'm in pain. Just some discomfort frm working muscles that may not have done much for quite while. Wishing you well meduck.2 points

My daughter-in-law has been Vegan for a couple of years, plus she hasn’t drunk cow’s milk for several years. It’s difficult to have a reasoned discussion with her about her chosen diet, plus she’s from Czech Republic and is a bit ‘in yer face’ with her ideas, for instance she refuses to get the child vaccinated. She’s a yoga teacher and in fantastic shape but what I don’t and will never agree with is that she’s bringing our granddaughter up as Vegan. The little one is nearly 6 and quite tiny compared to her contemporaries. I just hope she’s getting the protein needed to grow big and strong2 points

The journal ' Scientific Reports' are quoted as saying that a Russian experiment has defied the second law of thermodynamics and reversed the direction of times arrow! An 'evolution program' carried out during research into quantum computers has shown that qubits (sub atomic particles) have been scattered randomly but then revert to their original state. The claim is that it is time travel ...I can do the same with a rubber ball!1 point

Whilst the current edifice may indeed be underwhelming, it is still quite legitimate to call Nottingham Castle a castle. Historic ruins are still referred to as their original function, even if there is little left of the original. There are some small parts of the original castle left, the site is still the same, it certainly resembles a castle even if the main building is a mansion. It's called Nottingham Castle so isn't that enough?1 point

I would check on the Mexican embassy website Col. It is illegal to bring into Mexico some over-the-counter medicines commonly used in the United States, including inhalers and some allergy and sinus medications. Specifically, products that contain stimulants (medicines that contain pseudoephedrine, such as Actifed, Sudafed, and Vicks inhalers) or codeine are prohibited. https://mx.usembassy.gov/information-regarding-bringing-medications-into-mexico/1 point

Mrs. L was talking about an article she read about guys putting their wallets in their back pocket and that it could cause lower back pain and thus better to put it in a side pocket. Long story short, it got me thinking. Back in the 60s about the only thing I had in my wallet was a bit of cash. No credit or debit cards. No such thing as far as I knew. Possibly a driver's license, but no picture ID of any kind. What different days. One night I was walking home from my girlfriends when a police car stopped next to me. They asked me where I had been, where I was going etc. I didn't g1 point

Even Southwell to Newark on a trike sounds risky to me! No I’ve not been in the museum you refer to. I haven’t visited the town centre for some time. Not since they built an ASDA on the car park! My visits to Newark are to Waitrose, Homebase, Currys, Allwoods, Mole Valley Country Store, the marina and Albert St. Antiques - oh and a couple of trips to casualty!1 point

It's still used but it is costly, alternatives are ice flakes but it's harder to control the water ratio with that. So really there are for s and against both methods. Suppose it boils down to cost, specification and purpose!.1 point

Lizzie was interested in your dil not drinking cows milk. Neither does my daughter but she has problems. She has to control her diet. For years she suffered with being overweight. Various diets from a number of Dcs didn't work so eventually she took all her exams etc to a specialist who looked at her record . One by one he said " nothing there" but take the whole lot together and discovered that she was border line diabetic. She produces too much cortisol. He put her on a strict regime. Plenty of physical exercise and eliminated quite a few foods including cows milk and foods that contained mi1 point

They use liquid nitrogen in bulky concrete pours to give a more consistent batch, as the chemical reaction of cement creates heat, the LN will effectively let the concrete cure more evenly ( simplified). One example where it would have been useful would have been in the construction of the Hoover dam. But I don't think the idea was around then.1 point

Pleasant surprise today... Someone on another forum advised me to change some of the 'moves' I do when weight training. It is already producing results. I was very poor at proper press ups and struggled to get from 'chin on the carpet' to a full press. After a week or so of changes, mostly aimed at chest and triceps, I can now do a set of ten press ups minimum..in fact usually three sets. Real progress. He also said to 'keep muscle tension all the time' when doing bicep curls. So, not relaxing at bottom or top of the move. That's already showing progress too and got me 'upping' the w1 point

Went to the dentist again today. This time the specialist who did my root canal work. He basically said that the jury is out until the anti biotics are finished and we see what happens next. He prescribed me more Clarithromycin to take with me on hols in case it kicks off again. Told me to forget Erythromycin my own dentist gave me for the same purpose... Still, this specialist bloke does have a degree in Pharmacology as well as his Dentistry quals. He also said that he thought that 7 days on 400Mg Metronidazole, prescribed by the hospital, was a bit much . Says he normally prescribes1 point

What a load of tosh. If it hurts, STOP DOING IT! At our time of life we are never going to jump over tall buildings or run marathons. Your body will tell you when enough is enough.. It's OK for physios to warble on but they are all much younger and have no idea how painful arthritis can be. Some discomfort, fine, but actual pain no.1 point

I'm a bit surprised this even exists. Apparently there are 724 paintings in Nottingham Castle. Here's all of them, so Nonna might be able to recognise the one in question. https://www.artuk.org/discover/artworks/search/venue:nottingham-castle-museum-and-art-gallery-3625/page/11 point
