  1. Shopping in one of the large supermarkets I looked for an ordinary writing pad. Nothing! Lots of envelopes of every shape and size but no ordinary writing pad! I normally use Facebook messenger, email and text but sometimes there is a need to write a letter. Not everyone has the technology to receive email and text and some prefer handwritten rather than typed as that can look like a round robin letter. It is sad as this suggests we are losing the capacity for the personal touch.

  2. Earlier today, Nottstalgia was sending out error messages and you couldn't log on (because it wasn't there). Something to do with server migration, and now it's all hopefully sorted and finished.

  3. I have been looking at Llangollen but can't find out if it is 'hilly' it seems a lovely place but we need to be on the flat as much as possible. I have booked a break in Whitehaven (thank you Ben) lots of nice places near to it. Thank you all for advice and ideas, as soon as the sun comes out they are on the move I tell them I'm getting old but they don't listen.

  5. It’s quite hilly around that part of North Wales. Don’t go if you need to be on the flat. Very scenic though.

  7. Well next doors have gone to Brisbane to visit her parents & we're feeding their cat Shadow, he's been round ours all day, he doesn't seem to like being on his own. We're going on a line dance hols week in Harrogate next week & his Dad is coming to stay in their house to look after Shadow & our Pix till we come back. They're looking into emigrating to Oz & we'll end up with Shadow if they do, we'll be a two cat family then, lol...

  8. I was very surprised when my Notts old farts bus pass worked in Florida = I just showed it to the bus driver & paid 25 cents for myself & Mrs same as American OF's do. Got loads of discounts for being ex military, or a 'veteran' as they called me, they even gave me a card saying 'Ex Active Military' to show shops/restaurants & it worked nearly everywhere...

  12. FLY, I've not been feeling physically 100% for 3 - 4 weeks, so we had a relatively quiet day with the grandchildren.... did about an hour with a French workbook - lots of laughs and great fun, then explored some Maths concepts (our 8 year old is Maths crazy). We covered equations, new ways of doing long multiplication and division, and having races to see which of us was better at mental arithmetic (not always me!). After that, we played rummy, made paper planes from complicated patterns and then I nearly fell asleep on the sofa listening to his practising clarinet and piano pieces. Inters

  21. Very dangerous. Chess can cause intense drowsiness, you can easily break a nail shuffling the dominoes, and origami, well those paper cuts can be so painful. LOL

  23. Sorry again Fly, but I'm one of the few blokes in England who doesn't give a toss about football. I prefer masculine games like chess, dominoes, origami etc.

  24. I misunderstood and thought it was my account which had been suspended. Here am I thinking, " what have I done? or who have I upset ? Wondered if I had to renew or something like that, then it occurred to me, some folks have been on NS for years. So then I thought, " sod it ! I'll wait and see what happens. ( Even sent an email to Cliff ton for advice). Now I'm back on I realise I know bugger all about owt. B.

  30. I've just discovered, whilst dropping down a gear on the hill into the village, the flappy paddles on my latest car are marked in Braille! The left has an indent and the right has a pimple. Are modern cars now designed to be driven by the partially sighted?

  32. My wife doesn’t understand it either. It’s some sort of black art practiced primarily by farmers’ wives which involves a lot of shouting and noise making. She just knits or crochets and drinks tea.

  34. Just sitting here with me coffee and noticed a daddy long legs in the room. I opened a window, gently caught him in my hands and put him outside. I bet you are thinking, so what? My dad would be so proud of me, as a kid, sitting on the outside loo, I would scream bloody murder if there was any insect flying around me, and he'd come and remove it for me. I'm all growed up now!
