Most of us feel like that towards Parliament at the present time! They are talking some sense in Parliament this afternoon though about not leaving without a deal. Unfortunately deal or no deal wasn't on the agenda at the time of the vote and the ill informed electorate just voted 'out' because they didn't like being 'ruled' by Europe. It's deeper than that but that's the simplistic interpretation!2 points

There were lots of signs that the austerity policy was more than just good housekeeping. There was much mention in Conservative circles of eliminating red tape and reducing the footprint of government, both at a local and a national level. The extreme of this was possibly Northamptonshire County Council, who once proposed (but never carried out) the idea of having just a minimalist head office, with all services outsourced to private enterprise. There was also a stealthy but huge shift in overall government funding from other regions to the South East. Even Cameron seems to have been taken by2 points

I'm 76 CT, not 66. Married in 1965, born in 1943. Was nearly 22 when I got married. I would have looked a right plonker if i wed in shorts, aged 12. sorry CT, I've just re read your post and realised you meant you were at junior school and not me. which makes you a young whippersnapper. Happy days son.2 points

I have just taken delivery of an Amazon parcel. (Alexa had gone green, the light that is, and informed me the parcel was arriving today, she does have some uses.) It was an enormous box so I staggered into the front room with it. Got it open (with help from my boys) and found a large amount of packing as usual. Pulled out yards of the stuff and then some of the air filled stuff. Finally got to the actual parcels, two new dog blankets for the boys. Now these are extra large, they are big lads, but they were in the smallest heavy plastic bags that they could possibly get them in, thought th1 point

Don't think so, Phil. Never saw her again from the day I hit the road. Don't even know if she's still alive. She was a genuine, nice gal. I regret the way it ended and would apologize over my attitude if I could, but some sleeping dogs are best left lying.1 point

It’s true there was dissent from some quarters about austerity – but only from those that were not in a position of responsibility and objected mainly on principle. Everyone who did have a say chose austerity to tackle the problem. Yes Osborne was from the Micawber School of economics where his 2:1 in modern history didn't really prepare him for his job as chancellor. I don’t think he was ideologically opposed to public spending. He did make some effort to stimulate the economy, the Northern Powerhouse was his initiative – he just wasn’t very good at it. Aside from that he’s not known as a g1 point

I don’t sneak away from the site but I rarely read any of the ‘political’ comments. I’m not interested, I accept that a few members have very strong views but I don’t agree with the majority of posters who shout loudest and it is boring me to tears. However, thankfully, I have the choice ....... just you lot carry on.1 point
