  1. About 40 years ago we had a couple of Atco petrol lawnmowers, he thinks a 14” and an 18”, one inherited and one acquired from somewhere or other. He couldn’t keep up with them and had to run along behind them (not a problem for a 30 something young man at that time). He entered them in a Lawnmower Race in Banbury which was our local town in those days, but wasn’t allowed to race them as he couldn’t disconnect the blades

  2. How is my day full of mistakes as usual, my old lawnmower has had its day so I brought a new one . A Hyuandi petrol engine, electric button start and engine driven no need to push. Fitted it together oil in and filled it with petrol, it started first time , great now I will cut the lawn. The problems now start pulled the drive handle up and off it goes it snatched itself out of my hands, stops straight away as no longer have my hands on the handles. Try again but this time grip the handles firmly , front wheels lift off the ground with the power and back wheels spinning on the grass. Try again

  4. Apart from a few Pots of bright plants and flowers on a nice big Patio,,i have,,, by my standards,, a very large Lawn about 30 yards x 30 yards,,the Mower i brought with me is just a Fly-Mow for small lawns,,,so when a chap up the avenue asked me if i wanted to him to look after it.....i readily agreed,,,and it looks brilliant when he does it,,

  5. My neighbour's son races lawnmowers. He's got one that will do 60mph. If I can dig the picture out I'll post it.

  7. If you're still having problems Trogg I can come over to help. I still cut a lot of grass and over the last 60 years have used many powered mowers.

  8. This type of fixed engine speed mower isn’t uncommon. Whilst most of my mowing is done with a lawn tractor I do have a walk behind Toro with a constant speed engine. It senses your walking speed and the traction speeds up and slows down accordingly. I think something must be at fault; you shouldn’t have to run behind a motor mower.

  10. Trogg, I'm sorry that the lawn mower isn't the right one for you, but that certainly isn't YOUR fault... you couldn't possibly have known that it would move too quickly and cause you pain and discomfort in your back, legs and shoulders! I hope your son will be able to cut the grass for you in the future x

  11. My sympathies Trogg, the solution would be to fit a trailer with seat on it, possibly with a roller underneath. Then if you fancy it you could soup it up and go mower racing! But seriously, if it's feasible, I would certainly consider adapting a sit on trailer. Regards, Beekay.

  13. We went to Milton Keynes today to see our 6 year old granddaughter, oh and our son and his wife too. We’ve had no chance of seeing the little one for a few weeks as she’s been staying in Czech Republic with her other granny but while over there she was bitten by a German Shepherd dog belonging to a friend of the family. She had terrible lacerations on her head, thankfully not on her face but in her hair. She was an ambulance case and spent 5 days in hospital with her head heavily bandaged and on IV antibiotics. Czech Granny stayed with her 24/7 for the whole hospital stay. Anyway this all

  14. Well we set of for Mablethorpe, but afraid we didn't get far. We stopped at the new Observatory at Chapel and the sign told us to stay on the beach for 900 mtres , but it was impossible to push our cycles through the sand. We decided to get off and onto the roads, trying again further down the road at Chapel Six Marshes. Still no clear path, just more sand, so we decided to about turn, as the road was too dangerous for us to continue. A couple of close encounters put us off. We had a lovely day though riding around the lanes of Skegness. Tea and toasted Teacake outside a cafe at the back of Ch
