  1. Good but tiring day today. Had my checkup this afternoon and all is well. X-ray was in agreement with the last one I had in hospital. I can now take this re enforced corset off and boy oh boy what a relief. I've also been given the ok to drive providing I don't do too much swiveling. Next checkup in 6 months. Now very tired but happy.

  4. SWMBO ordered a sonic cleaner (weighing 3Kg) for my birthday on 1st November. It was sent out the same day by the company and fell into the hands of YODEL. Checking the tracker it seems that Yodel delivered it through their own company letterbox over a week ago. A complaint last week promised to sort it out - still no goods......I still can't work out how they could deliver it through ANY letterbox let alone their own?!

  7. The actual school building was only ready for occupation by September 1954 when I started as a first year.... and even then, it was only part finished! The second year pupils were - as you say, Lizzie - mainly from HM and WB, but they only started attending CLW in 1954, not 1953. They spent their first year at their original schools... (but knowing they were going to move to CLW the next year).

  9. What criteria are we going to use to find out which school was the best? I've a feeling that whatever evidence is produced, we will all still think our old school is the one...... bit like the Brexit debate maybe? Oops! Wrong thread.....

  11. An interesting car to see parked there. It's a BMW coupe, produced in the 70s, and not the kind of thing you'd expect to find in a concrete jungle (unless you were involved in dodgy business dealings). Today they are worth quite a lot - if you could find one. And the bike against the lamp post tells us that the photo is by Reg Baker.

  12. Illegal immigrants are not entitled to nor do they receive benefits of any kind, how can they claim if they're illegal? Asylum seekers (refugees) are barred from working whilst a decision is made about their status and do receive benefits. There are those who are a little more savvy that can and do cheat the system but those jolly chaps at Westminster Jollly Johnson and Crafty Corbyn are going to throw lots of money at the police and border force to solve the problems, I'm sure they won't waste it by giving themselves big pay rises or squander it on expenses. 14. Woohoo I've read my mail and it says I won the Lottery 'Set For Life' game. So now I'm set for life, great! I'm a bit worried though, it's only £5 - do they know something I don't?
