  2. A female immune to your charm and charisma, Ben? What's the world coming to? I'm sure the canine population has quadrupled at the very least in my neck of the woods. Never seen so many people out with their hounds. Perhaps these doggies don't normally go out, in which case, the current situation has done them a favour. Tarquin has spent the morning in the garden. I'm decorating and every time I go up the ladder, he follows me. He's so nosy! Looks hilarious but it's too dangerous for both of us, so out he went!

  4. Not enjoying this isolation with the cold weather, but I am grateful I am better off than many others, especially when I can get in the garden. Today as it was too cold for me to go in the garden so I helped with the cleaning ,Mondays is cleaning day, I turned on Spotify and listen to my daily choice. It was a mistake it was all 60s music, and the wife started singing, despite numerous attempts to stop her she didn't. So after seeing numerous mentions of Beethoven on this Forum I turned onto him. I must admit I quite enjoyed it , but someone else didn't. I have had it made abundantly clea

  8. I'm very lucky in the sense that I'm able to work from home whilst all this goes on! Unfortunately the warehouse staff cannot and as such all head office staff have been furloughed so the company can apply for help from the government. Hoping the local Nottingham based family business can keep on taking the world by storm once this is all over!

  9. Yes, Brew, I think most on here are in receipt of pension. There are those of us, though, who are self-employed, like my husband and I, who, whilst in our 60's, are without any pension or income and have to wait until at least June for any Govt support

  10. If I remember correctly there were three sets of steps, so a pretty painful tumble! The cut through was Princess Terrace and on the left hand side at the bottom of the steps was a Tenants pub, The Princess Royal.

  11. I'm like a bloomin hermit at the moment Margie so not been in close company to anyone. My hair will soon be long enough to plait (she says), though I draw the line at hair shirts. My neighbour is a designer. glass lampshades last time we spoke, so no idea why he carried on working. Looking for a silver lining I suppose those of us that are retired and have a pension are in a better position than the poor devils who are losing their jobs and income.

  12. I thought that Covid 19 was exclusively a human condition. Just read that Dominic Cummings has self-isolated/quarantined himself. I'm sure the RU will be much better off without him.

  13. But what hasn’t been reported widely is that the German airforce flew many sick Italians (and French) to Germany for treatment. https://www.euronews.com/2020/03/28/eight-covid-19-patients-flown-from-france-and-italy-to-german-hospitals

  14. Welcome YeOlde. My mother’s family were from the Arnold area. Grandmothers family was Ellis and the family ran Ellis bakers which was where Birds now is. My grandfather was the youngest of 5 having 4 sisters. The family name was Clarke and they were a Daybrook family. My Great grandfather was a van driver, horse drawn of course for Jacobees lace and eventually became head of the stables for the firm living in a company owned house next to the stables. My mother was born over her parents shop on Front Street now a hairdressers. In about 1983 shortly before his death Grandad was staying at

  16. Be careful, we don't want everyone getting the clap. Seriously though what a great gesture toward all in the NHS who are the key to defeating this virus.

  17. I've got mi jimjams on and a mug of Ovaltine in mi hand, the other one is clutching two chocky biscuits, so there is no chance of me seeing the ISS tonight. I don't want any of the neighbours, thinking 'Oh crikey there's the crazy woman star gazing in her jimmys again'. Perhaps I'll see it next time.
