  2. I wonder how many believe that Donald Trump and Melania have actually contracted the corona virus? or is it A ploy to garner sympathy to gain votes An action that is designed to delay/defer the election Another means of saying that it is not a free and fair election that as due to his diagnosis he cannot participate on the hustings A plan to avoid another disastrous TV debate with Joe Biden He will have a miraculous recovery as he has been taking hydroxychloroquine He will announce that contracting coronavirus is no big deal, just like a dose of flu and u

  4. Probably a greater story than Robinson Crusoe but this actually happened . 24 year old George Vason , son of butcher Richard Vason of North Muskham had come to Nottingham to work as a builder but in 1798 joined with a group of Baptist missionaries to the South Seas on the ship "Duff" . After a scary eventful journey outward , they landed in Tonga and initially were treated well by the natives . The main early troubles were caused by a couple of resident British sailors who had earlier mutinied from a ship and probably resented the newcomers . Vason stopped trying to

  5. Thanks BK. Yes it does help, but it seems super sharp even for 16 mm to my old eyes with a cataract. Looking forward to watching it again when I've had that problem fixed. Edit. David I'm thinking that Woolworths looked like what we used to call little Woolworths at the top of Hockley?

  6. I think I must be turning into a hermit as I like staying in, reading. kindle books, doing gardening, strolling round our little village lanes and only having zoom meetings instead of having to go out to them. I’m SO boring but I like it and I can still look after the little grandchildren as well (at the moment)

  7. Stand by your beds, don't leave the house, don't go to the pub, don't get married, don't even think of having a social life, download the NHS app that don't work very well, but might result in forcing you to quarantine yourself, just in case you have contract a virus so deadly you'll not even know you've got it

  8. That’s the problem with living out in the sticks David! We both went into our local pharmacy on 10th September to have our jabs. We did the same last year too. Our GP surgery hadn’t even got the vaccine at that stage. Now the locals of Mapperley Park are struggling to get the flu jab and are willing to pay £25 to have one done privately in Sherwood somewhere. But then, how safe is it, how effective is it? I don’t listen to my daughter-in-law who is into conspiracy theories and anything else to get worked up about. Think David Icke has a direct line to her.

  9. Yes, Listergate. The left side between Sawyers and Stanford St. That side of the store, apart from the Food Hall, would normally be clothing, haberdashery, textiles etc and at Christmas they were replaced with all the seasonal stuff that can be seen. The camera first comes down from the back of the store towards the front and then returns, front to back, the record department being shown at the end and the rest of the store to the right.

  10. Probably a Bolex. Would have cost a bomb in the day and the film not cheap either. If this was a private individual they were very keen and well off. Those children at the bonfire seem well heeled.

  12. A lot more Americans get it than you might think. BTW I didn't vote. I don't have a vote here and I'm glad I don't The choice in 2016 was between Trump and Clinton. Need I say more? Today Trump and Biden. Word's fail me! Many Americans are fed up, not unintelligent. What are they to do with the caliber of candidates that are offered every four years? They vote for what they see as the lesser of two evils. The lessor is little better. We are in deep do do! That's probably as far as I should go. I'd like a ticket for somewhere else, but where do you go? Most cou

  16. Life would be a bloody lot shorter if one picked up the virus and developed complications. We've now been in isolation for 212 days and I don't regret a minute of it. If I don't go where it is, I won't pick it up.

  17. Her name is, Kamala Harris. Known in the critical media as 'the Kamal' Many here think that Biden is running because he has a higher profile and recognition. Once he' is in he will quickly turn it over to her. It won't be God bless America, then. Heaven help us! I actually feel sorry for Biden. He has a serious case of dementia. He could not run a kindergarten or as we used to say, 'A boozup in a brewery.'

  18. Brings to mind that old saying: If God meant them to have an election, he'd have given them a decent candidate! It reminded me of why I didn't like teaching reception classes! In the end, the one who can throw most dosh will win. It has been so since Joe Kennedy bought the presidency for his son and that family doesn't bear close inspection at any level. Supposed pillars of the RC church, my backside. Anti Semites, liars, adulterers...it matters not as long as you possess the dollars.

  19. I like Trump Better than that silly old sod Biden who, if he wins, will need to pass the job to his second-in-command (whatever her name is, but she's been picked because she's a black female) within a year.

  20. Just watched the film all the way through, thank you Let's. Wow!!! Gotta say it brought lots of memories for me. The shot of the trolley bus at the time clock opposite the Locarno, St.Annes Well road, I remember as a novice conductor standing there with my clock card, working on the 40/47 trollies. Did notice on the Goose Fair poster it said 1965, so I was still at Bilborough depot then. Incidentally, at the fair opening, the Lady Mayoress was the good lady who invited my son Andrew to the Council house for tea, (he won a fancy dress competition and the Mayoress wanted to see what he looked li

  24. Phone consultation with the doctor this morning. Me being deaf, Mrs PP took the call. It appears that recent x-rays have confirmed what I suspected. Osteoarthritis of hip and spine along with osteostephs. A physio will phone shortly to give advice about exercise. Already done 30 min on the rowing machine before breakfast. My continued rowing is probably the reason that I am still very active. I can still lift both straight legs with feet together. Rowing is a great core strengthening exercise. It all happening this week. Had laser op on left eye on Monday following complete loss of

The bloke i mentioned above,,,as well as being quite intimidating was a 'Character'..........a few months after my encounter with him saw him having a Coffee in Broad Marsh Wimpy,,naturally i joined him and enjoyed a long chat.... He was well educated and did what he did because he found it easy to get away with,,told me he went to court over the offence with me,,and was more or less told to behave for the next 12 months,,which he did'nt but didn't get caught,,,finished up having a laugh with him,,he asked me if i'd nick him if i saw him doing it again?....told him yes,,,...
