  1. Good news Matthew had his second test yesterday and has just heard from his dr that he is negative and now just waiting for the official confirmation. We all think that he already had it a few days and my DIL wasn't well a slight cough and loss of taste but didn't think much of it. Waiting to hear if they are now allowed out of isolation. One very happy 15 yr old.

  2. That's the second ton and a half of rocks loaded up and taken away. Took the other half of rocks up to one of our fishing pools to plug a leak. This afternoon spent pick axing roots of Yew tree. It will take at least 2 more days but it's the sort of work that I enjoy. Just sitting behind a nice Bourbon at the mo.

  4. @PeverilPeril I think that’s a beautiful idea making a garden bench from the yew.... I must admit I always feel sad when a big tree is cut down.

  10. There are lots of right geezers in Caper Films, probably my favourite film genre. Michael Caine starred in a lot of caper movies, the best being The Italian Job, 1969 version, he was good in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels too. Other good ones include Going in Style and of course The Sting. Who can forget one of TV's greatest geezers Arfur Daley, the late great George Cole who also played Flash Harry, a geezer/spiv in the St Trinians films

  11. My advice is go to your local hardware emporium and handle the tool. pick the tool up, see if it feels comfortable in your hands, see if it's not too heavy and unwieldy, that changing the battery pack is easy and the same goes for any other attachments. Check availability of spares, service and warranty. Chose a reputable brand and buy it there. It might cost a few dollars more but you know what you are buying and if anything does go wrong you know where to take it back to.

  12. Today we went for a walk around Hod Hill, Stourpaine near Blandford Forum. It’s the site of a large Iron Age settlement that fell to the Romans soon after they arrived on our shores. They then had 700 men and 250 horses garrisoned on the site but there were only a few cows grazing there today. It was a difficult trek up a very steep hill to the fort and then struggling through thick gloopy mud in places alongside the River Stour. Well all was ok until I tried to avoid the mud by walking up and along a bank, tripped over a root and landed heavily on my right hip and shoulder in the mud!

  15. Now you come to mention it Col. I remember that first decent amp of mine. Rogers Cadet III had a little plug in cartridge. Two of them actually. One for magnetic, and one for ceramic or other crystal type pickup cartridges. You plugged in whichever matched your cartridge and you were all set. Makes sense now.
