  1. Thankyou all. We have had a lot of offers of help. Daughter is cooking daily to tempt us to eat, more often than not, we put it in the fridge until next day. Messages getting to us to phone neighbours for any reason. I think it took a few days for people to realise we haven't been seen cycling for a while. We are blessed with good neighbours and caring family.

  2. Little update on CV..At 10.30pm last night I had to send for an Ambulance, Chris was struggling to breathe and was getting panicky. The Paramedics were brilliant, they decided to take him in after tests showed oxygen levels low. They suspected a small clot had formed apparently, this can happen with Covid. I wasn't allowed to go with him as I am positive as well. He was brought home at 4.30am, still coughing. No let up still. I am not as ill as Chris but still very much sofa bound! I hope my posts can be a constant reminder to you all that anyone can get ill, if reading makes you all extr

  3. Just like you say Jill mums and dads are very precious, it reminded me of my mother in law Gerti. When she had trouble looking after herself we had no chioce but to find a residental home. I went around about 30 homes, and the last question I would ask "Oh! by the way can Gerti have a smoke in here, one or two said "NO" and another said she can go outside, one even said get her to pack up, now come on sir Gert had been smoking since she was 9 and at 79 would you tell her to give up, then I tried a home on Sherwood Rise Nottingham. Not a problem said the manager we have a small room where the

  4. Thankyou Lizzie. I keep popping in to NS throughout the day, but I'm afraid I haven't got any staying power at the moment, This virus has really knocked us about. I don't know if it our age but there is a lot more to it than we expected. Our daughter/granddaughter are both fine now, but we are far from it. Chris is now on antibiotics for chest infection. The coughs are horrendous, there is no let up day and night. We have no strength between us, can't even walk from one room to another without getting exhausted. We are just hoping for some improvement soon, it wou

  8. On seeing q.8 in Marys pub quiz my mind went all the way back to a Monday early in March 1948, I was on demob leave after my 2 years Nat. Service and needed to go to the National Insurance Office on Derby Rd. to become a civilian again. First surprise of the day came when my father said he would take the day off work to ‘show’ me where it was? So off we walked along Meadow lane. to catch the 43 trolley bus along Arkwright St., Carrington St. Lister Gate Albert St. Wheeler Gate then the ‘dog leg round’ Queen Victoria’s statue then on up Chapel Bar onto Derby Rd. and our stop at the RC Cat

  9. I think Margie has the right idea, Ben. You need to meet the cats and get to know them. I've often thought of names for a cat but never met a moggie whom they would fit. My cat, Tarquin, was only a kitten when I first saw him. He, his mother and his 3 siblings had been rescued from a skip when the kittens were only a day old! I'd like to get my hands on the culprit. They were around 2 weeks when I first saw them. Mum and 3 kittens were asleep. Tarquin was jumping around, looking very naughty and whacking them all on the head with his paw. The name just came into my hea
