  1. Yesterday we had a long walk, it was a good walking day. Went up past the covered reservoir, past Strelley Church and then went down to the woods. Kai had a great time going through every puddle and patch of mud, at one time he was virtually up to his knees in mud, he was only groomed a week ago but hey ho he was enjoying himself. He had a run on the meadow, good to see him stretching his legs, I could see Wolf running with him. Then we went past the alpaca (spelling?) field, although there was no sign of them, under the motorway bridge (more mud for Kai to splash through) and then past the re

  3. For anyone who hasn't experienced it, this is the what the new design looks like on an Android phone. No sign of my avatar; nowhere to log in/out; no place for notifications; no envelope for PMs. Fortunately, it's all ok on my iMac. But as a piece of web design, it's worse than useless.

  5. It might surprise you Ian, but i like cricket, I wish we had a ladys cricket team when I was young, I would have joined also I would have had a brillant coach as my dad had trials to play for England and was accepted. At the time he had just married my mum and he could not have afforded to give up work. While on holiday in Melborn Australia master and myself went to watch England play.

  8. I was aware of cricket when I was young because my grandad was interested in it and often mentioned the subject, so I became familiar with the names of players who were around in the early-mid 60s. Brian Bolus always comes to mind. I specifically remember my grandad being impressed when Sobers hit 6 x 6s off Malcolm Nash in the match against Glamorgan. My grandad worked at Players and used to go to Players' Rec (the sports ground on Aspley Lane) where he was an umpire in local league matches. I never actually went with him on those occasions, but he often mentioned them

  10. It's is a fine 30 deg here and just sat down for a coffee to watch the traditional Boxing Day test match from the MCG. It is on commercial free to air TV. The game is only six overs old and already I have ad nauseum. They show the same ad on consecutive breaks and why does almost every advert these days have to have someone singing and dancing in it. They are dong a great job of turning me off their products. Is it the same in the UK?

Much later. Tried and tried vc but didn't even work locally. Then tried face time and it worked first time. Great talking to her after all these years.

  26. I first started watching Test cricket in the late 60s when it was still on free TV, and John Edrich was one of the players in the England team at the time. In those days he was an opener with Boycott. Other players in the team at the time included Knott, Underwood, Snow, Lever etc etc.

  32. This Christmas will be very different for us as our immediate family are all staying in their own homes for the whole Christmas period, not because we are contagious anymore but we are not well enough for the usual get together, both Christmas day and our 54th Anniversary on Boxing day. This is the very first Christmas that we have been on our own since 1966, I have already booked my big sofa, hubbs gets the two seater. Lots of laying about eating chocs and Trifle. Already sampled some after tea today. MmMm. Well somebody has too..........
