  2. After Kai getting really dirty the past few weeks, he does love a muddy puddle or any mud at all really I have this morning been to our local pet shop (with him in tow) and got him a dog coat. Not a normal one that just covers the back this is a super duper waterproof one with legs in very fetching black and red with silver piping that glows at night. As usual he had to have XL as the large was a bit too small which cost an arm and a leg. He also picked up a long snake toy, which was as big as him, but when I saw the price tag (£17.99) it was very quickly put back, he does have expensive taste

  3. @radfordredThreads mutate sometimes just like the coronavirus .... but, unlike the virus, they can be brought back to their original state . I hate this virus - it’s messing up the whole world and I want the spread of it to get less and less until we can all get back to some sort of normal

  4. My mum was in a home of the last few years of her life she was 99 when she passed away wirh Dementia. The thing is by the time the illness has got hold nothing works any more, My real mum passed away long before. This person in the home was a stanger to me she was in the home for about 3 years When we went to see her she would aways give you a big smile. Even if she did not know who you were. One day I took the photo album to show her, all of a sudden she said that's my dad what time is he comming home from work? So there was still a little bit of mum in there.

  6. The bride in this photo passed away in her sleep yesterday, aged 91. She’d been in a local care home for around 10 years suffering from dementia. She was my aunt and I’m the little bridesmaid, I was 5 years old! I haven’t seen her all the time she was in the home as she didn’t recognise her 4 children so she wouldn’t have known me. Very sad and frankly rather frightening.

  9. Watched a Brit drama last night, Elizabeth is Missing, Glenda Jackson played a lady with dementia. It really bought home to us, how difficult it is to deal with or live with, a person like that. She played the part very well.

  10. I can sympathise with you. We looked after my mother who had dementia for ten years. It was a difficult time. We had to put her in a home eventually as she was getting just too much for us to manage. She only lasted a couple of weeks after that. It was ten of the most difficult years of our life. I wouldn't wish it on anybody.

  11. Possible explanation is that those houses occupied a large plot of land and they front-and-back onto two roads, so there are several where the 'front' is on Vivian Avenue and the 'back' is on Pelham Road (or vice-versa). I reckon that's the same place I linked here. It faces onto Clinton Avenue and Hamilton Road.

  15. On our web site the other day one of our members told me that his hairdresser have to give up work due to having Parkinson's and her tremor. Like every one else the member thought Parkinson's was just a tremor, so seeing as I was diagnosed with Parkinson's (PD for short) I thought I would just give members some details about it. Parkinson's an illness not seen. (Somtimes apart from tremor) After a good afternoon of playing bowls, I sat with master having a glass of wine in the sunshine. I had a slight tremor in my right leg also in my right arm, joking i said to master ma

  27. @nonnaBWhen we used to visit a factory near Florence the chap who looked after us, Simone Bargellini, was the son of the Mayor of Florence. He knew absolutely everyone in the town especially the restraunteurs who usually turned out to be his cousins! It was always a pleasure to spend an evening with him.

  30. I have 2 iPads pads , one is 8 yrs old and the other, which was my mums and never used it is only about 4 yrs old. My older one is getting very slow and occasionally has problems and I can't reply. All I get at the end of a post is a thin double line that's looks as though it needs extending length ways. Usually if I have anything to say or reply I have to go back to my other iPad but then I can't "like" a post without having to press loads of times and then it still doesn't post. So folks who expect a reply or "like" and don't get them it's not that I don't care , it's just that the iPad won'

  33. There is a centre opening in Newark this week although the location has not been disclosed. I don't know how they propose to get the over 80's there though. An over 80's neighbour has had a jab at the QMC but his much younger wife, an ex nurse, has enrolled there to give vaccinations.
