  1. Yesterday I bit the bulletin and rang about some cockapoo puppies. They are due around the 1st March so won’t be ready until April. I got the answerphone, nearly didn’t leave a message but decided to. A very nice lady rang me back, I was the 3rd she rang and we were on the phone for an hour, she gave me loads of information, answered all my questions and asked me questions about myself, the house and my experience with dogs. It felt like a job interview but showed she cared about the homes her puppies are going to. So I am third on her waiting list. Whilst I was talking to her she had 1

  2. When we had the first lock down early last year, and people started wearing masks etc, here in the area we live in, there seemed to be a feeling of comradeship in the air. Apart from the underlying fear of the virus, people we passed on our daily cycle rides (exercise), and walking to the shop., seemed to go out of their way to be friendly in the awful unsure time we were in. I wrote somewhere on NS, how proud I was of the way people seemed to be working together to do their bit to ward off the virus. But. A big BUT. What has happened. Where has that feeling gone. Som

  3. Another problem with masks in supermarkets is recognising other people - or not. There have been a number of occasions where I've looked at another person and thought "is that xxxx ?". Under normal conditions you'd go over to the person and speak; but now you can't go close to them - and even if you did, you realise that behind the mask it's not the person you thought it was.

  8. Catchems, then Dunns sold to Veolia and one of the son's, Scott, started Yourbus based at Hucknall then later moved to Heanor. On of my sons worked in the office at Catchems for a while although I beleive the trading address was Park lane which is at the back of there. Dunns had aquired a few smaller coach companies prior to Catchems so whoever was at Nuthall road may have been one them

  12. Same here. I've just ordered a large planter for the bottom of the drive. We're having a 'Bleasby in Bloom' this year as we've had to cancel 'Open Gardens'. We're all going to be making an effort to make the village look cheerful in these extraordinary times.

  16. I fear this wearing of masks malarkey is affecting my mental health. I’ve started talking (muttering) to myself when I’m out, mainly in supermarkets. Nobody will see my lips move but I’m hoping nobody hears me chuntering, making insulting comments about fellow shoppers, reminding myself what I need to buy ....... bit worrying really! I know I’m not alone with this problem because I admitted it to my best friend the other day and she said she does the same! Anybody else ready to confess?

  17. As I wrote earlier I was slowly taking the trees out, well yesterday I had dug all around the last tree cut most of the roots and removed some of the soil underneath it. I left the trunk 6 foot high to give me leverage to pull it over , expecting it to be a struggle I gave it all my might pulling it, a major mistake, the tree toppled over and I went with it. As I was falling backwards I automatically tried to stop myself falling by holding tightly onto the tree, which made the tree fall faster. As I was falling I thought this is going to hurt it seemed ages before I stopped fallin
