  1. Well we braved a cool April evening and sat outside Piccolinos, Weekday Cross this evening and had a very nice meal and drinks. We had dressed appropriately but they’d put heaters by the tables so it was fairly cosy. I doubt we would have bothered to venture out but friends rang last night and asked us to join them at 6pm this evening. Had a bit of a rush to get out as we’d had my elderly aunt round for tea and cream cakes this afternoon. Her two sons, my lovely cousins, brought her over for a change of scenery, even though we shouldn’t be mixing indoors she needed company and a distr

  3. Better weather today. Only marginally 'Baltic'.. Alexa tells me it's 8 degrees outside with an expected high of 12 degrees. Positively balmy c.f. recent days. Wind has dropped and the Sun is warm when not behind a cloud. I may catch a few rays later.. when I've done the hoovering.. P.S. There's always a downside.. I seem to be once more living in the middle of the 'Grand Duchy Annual Formation Jet Washing, Random Drilling and Electric Lawnmower Sound Off Championship'.. Bloke three doors down over the back is jet washing whilst wearing ear defenders. He hasn't offered me an

  4. Yesterday, apart from entertaining an elderly aunt ...... against Covid rules but a necessary action under the circumstances ..... my husband loaded my car up with various items to take to the council recycling centre on Redfield Road, the only one we’re permitted to use apparently, as City residents. He arrived before they opened the gates and nobody else turned up in the meantime. He asked one of the employees where to put 2 boxes of rubble and was told there was a charge of £8. Who knew that? Anyway, he grudgingly paid up but the guy asked for his postcode and said it wouldn’t cost anyt

  5. The last time I went to the car wash in Newark pre lockdown it was £10 for an SUV and £8 for a large car. I've started washing ours myself now since my hip's been fixed. I do a much better job as well!

  6. Jennifer Warnes is a living legend and has made some magnificent albums. She's been around since the 1960s. I have most of her stuff. She's also done some terrific duets with Joe Cocker (Up Where We Belong) and Bill Medley of the Righteous Bros. (I've Had The Time of My Life.) Her 1986 'Famous Blue Raincoat' album is a widely acknowledged masterpiece, on which Leonard Cohen collaborated. It's not only loved by 'audiophiles', but anyone who appreciates great music. She had previously done backing singing for him. ..hence the alternative title 'Jenny Sings Lenny'. I love both

  9. I did hear a while ago the UK were facing Pfizer shortages, hope you all get them done. We had our first dose last friday and the second one is already booked . They are getting them done very quickly now. We both had like the rest of the village Astra Zenica. We were told ages ago that we were to have Pfizer or Moderna but they changed it probably because of the supposed shortage of Pfizer. We both expected some sort of reaction but neither of us had anything not even a sore arm.

  10. According to the blurb in my paracetamol box, 1 person in 10,000 could experience clotting disorders, so that means that in 20,000,000 people, 2,000 people could experience clotting. Out of 20,000,000 people who had the AZ vaccine, 79 experienced clotting. BAN PARACETEMOL!!!!

  12. Awesome, thanks for the warm welcome!! I lived in Grantham when young, then other areas of the England over a period of 16 years. My parents and my in-laws are still in Notts and Lincs, so we come back as often as we can, and it feels like my second home. My first memory of Nottingham was a trip to the Tales of Robin Hood and Victoria Center in early 90s, last visit was Lace Market area in 2019 - it has changed a lot during those 30 years alone! My husband’s maternal line goes back to 1700s in St. Ann/Mapperley/Sneiton/West Bridgford areas. I started looking into t

  13. Thanks for the explanation of pinada DJ. I thought it might be the same thing but i misread your post. I thought they were doing it to reveal it was a girl to the happy couple. I reread the post and understand they did it to rejoice it was a girl. ( sounds double dutch but im tired and have an excuse.)
