  2. High time it was drilled into these students that history cannot be rewritten, what happened was in the past and cannot be changed. They are at university to be educated not cause disruption and annoy people. Any of them who cause damage to property should be thrown out on their ear. No argument is going to be sold to the masses by the actions of a bunch of louts. To want to remove the Queens portrait is an absolute disgrace and they should be given a very clear message of who is in charge and it is not them. If they don't like it well hard luck. They are little more than children and are sup

  6. My husband had a full knee replacement 3 years ago. All you will need to do is be a good lad and do everything the physio tells you to do! His op was very successful and he was soon walking miles every day ….and still is (usually getting 10k steps in before I even get up in the morning)

  9. The Great International Sporting Club was a grand evening out at the Albany. Strictly dinner jackets and men only. There was a banquet dinner followed by a famous comedian of the likes of Bob Monkhouse. Much bluer than on tv! The evening concluded with a couple of boxing matches. The bouts were conducted in absolute silence with just polite applause between the rounds. The audience were mainly businessmen and professionals but a few of the rogues from the scrap trade were usually there. They did hold an annual ladies evening. I remember chatting to Roy Castle at such an event.

  22. Well. An interesting morning. Very personable and apparently genuinely interested and young-ish Orthopaedic chap asked me about history, etc. showed me the x-ray of my clapped out knee joint and then launched into "so..if you're going to sign up for this op.." Whereupon I stopped him and explained 'with the greatest of respect" that I'd been advised by numerous people to go to Wrightington, and that it was only the physio 'gatekeeper system' which had pointed me to him. I also pointed out that the physio woman had been convinced I didn't need the op, until she saw my x-ray. He told me, in so

  24. Where we live, it was sunny up to about 10.45 then it was dull and dismal till around 12. Whether that was a result of the eclipse or just the weather, I’ve no idea…. it’s gone dull again in the last hour so perhaps it was just the weather

  34. Been to the hospital today and the cauterization hasn't worked, in fact it's worse, considerably so. The growth is a pyogenic granuloma (I had to look up the spelling) and now needs surgery to cut it out. This involves a test for MRSA, a Covid test and isolation before they start chopping bits off. The Covid test is at Willington service station on the A38, the MRSA at the hospital and isolation at home. Three hospitals, a telephone consult with the GP, a jaunt half way to Burton, a wait for the MRSA results, then what I presume will be a 10 minute cut and shut, before
