  1. I've heard from Loppylugs, Nottstalgia's well known hound. He sends regards and is as busy as a 3 legged dog with fleas! His words! Gardening and bringing on the veggies in heatwave conditions. Worry not. He's still barking.

  3. Has anyone heard from Loppy? He hasn't logged in since 10 May and there's been no reply to a recent PM. Not that I can see replies but they trigger an email in my junk mail. I hope there's nothing wrong.

Yes we have a lot to be thankfull for my daughter-in-law went for a smear test, the same week they sent for her, and did what is called a cone biopsy then the follow week they took her in and did a full hysteroscopy. The opp saved her life as she had a most aggresive form of cancer. At the time she was only 30 and she did not get the all clear till 5 years later. Touch wood she has been fine since.they have only got one boy he is now 22. Good Old NHS the people who work for the NHS are worth the

  5. The only problem I had was the need to pee every couple of hours in the night. I never knew I was having a blood test for PSA until the Doc rang & said the book another blood test. Went on Monday for MRI so now anxiously waiting what the outcome of that scan.

  7. You'll be fine, Colly. The Universe can't manage without you thinking about it. You won't be going anywhere yet. Einstein doesn't need the competition. Look after yourself!

  10. Indeed. Good to hear. Responding to Kev's point above about reducing numbers of regular posters.. It seems to me that there are many possible reasons. First off.. every product/service etc.. follows a 'bell curve' in which popularity rises to a peak then falls. I've seen many websites rise and fall way quicker than NS. Second. Competition from F'book and others has increased since this site started. Third. There are only so many times we can go around the 'Sweets from the past', 'Old TV Progs', 'Things yer granny used ter say', etc

  12. My husband’s oncologist has suggested that our 2 sons get the PSA when they reach 50. The eldest is 44 and recently felt a bit out of sorts and had a blood test and asked for a PSA at the same time but the GP said no.

  13. You were in the same year as Dave Gillham and Dave Newstead who became a headmaster before he died some years ago, you were in a year above me but I rememmber you lived in Sherwood at the time and I was from Arnold, I left in 1960 and worked at I& R Morely in daybrook untilit moved to Heanor which was on the othe side of the moon as far as I was concerned so I went to the NCB as an apprentice fitter and then moved to a company that made mining machinerry and worked all over the world as an overseas service engineer then ended up as a shift engineer at British Gypsum in Barrow on Soar then

  15. Thanks Jill....Glad your Hubby is OK Lizzie.... I remember watching a documentary a few years ago about American health care: a man who couldn't afford health insurance had got prostate cancer & needed radiotherapy or surgery, but he couldn't afford the many thousands of $ to pay for it, all he had to treat it was hormone pills. So thankful for the NHS knowing I haven't got the worry about the cost of whatever treatment I have...

  17. Colly, my husband had Gleason score of 8 too, and like you the cancer hadn’t spread anywhere else. He’d had no symptoms but our GP was all for doing the PSA tests every 2 or 3 years and that’s how the cancer was discovered, when his PSA count had gone up significantly between blood tests.

  18. Hi Margie, glad you liked it. One of the happiest clip was of some little Afrikaan children, they were only about 6/7 and the grins on their face was infectious. Also on the Swiss police, I thought funny was a female officer dancing away, with a gun strapped to her hip !

  19. Here's an interesting tip I found online. My Tomatoes are producing flowers..but not many are setting fruit. I investigated and it seems that Tomato flowers are self pollinating, but can fail to do so for 'mechanical' reasons..because the pollen can be prevented from moving due to growing conditions. It seems that Bees can help the process simply by buzzing about near the flowers..when the vibration of their wings can cause the pollen to move. Or... you can use an electric toothbrush..held to the flower stem. I've just tried it and it has caused some pollen to drop out of t
