I don't know about anyone else, but when the media speaks of the elderly, old age pensioners or senior citizens, I am not thinking they mean me!

Quite possibly but perhaps there are many other versions of us: a Ben who doesn't like women; a Brew who's a helpless alcoholic; a Trogg who's a right little Casanova; a Margie who's an atheist; a Cliff Ton who can't find his way round a map; a DJ who votes Conservative....another version of me who understands the inane witterings of Pythagoras. I am convinced of the multiverse concept. Many planes of existence, possibly all coexisting in the same 'space' but at totally different vibrational levels and normally totally unaware of each other. Oh yes my old boss at Farrands/Marsdens also lived on Woodthorpe drive..Ken Barrand....... In that bad winter of 63........i had the use of a Farrands 15cwt van.all logoed up and...not to be used privately......... Anyway one night when it was snowing heavy...about 10pm after i'd dropped Trina off........i got into a skid top of Woodthorpe........and passed Ken's house side-ways......lol Edit both lived Pete and Ken in the middle of Woodthorpe drive..

Used to be a rite of passage that, on buying a car, I also bought a Haynes manual for it. Those days are long gone as modern cars are far too complicated for me to consider anything but the most basic of maintenance (fluids and filters). Hence why my plug spanner and feeler gauges are enjoying a happy retirement in the old toolbox.

The other point is of course that my elderly car is working perfectly and every day it continues to do so is another day I'm not shelling out for a new one... so my savings increase. A friend of mine lives at the bottom of Woodthorpe Drive on the triangle of land that used to be allotments. There was a small building on the corner of Mansfield Rd. Had that been a toll house? We used to get into Woodthorpe Park after hours through a bent railing opposite the bank that goes down to Woodthorpe Avenue.

MB have gone down the digital route for manuals. My last car had one similar in thickness to a Littlewoods catalogue. This one is like an average paperback. It only gives a brief outline before referring you to the digital version on the hard drive..

My car has so many gizmos 'to aid the driver' it's actually dangerous to use them unless stationary. The climate control is one example, it's a nightmare to operate and can take several minutes of faffing about to get it how you want.

There is a theory that the big bang was not instantaneous but took time, infinitesimally small but not instant. During that time many universes were created like bubbles and each 'bubble' created another and so on, a multiverse separated by tiny increments of space and time. This opens up the possibility that somewhere 'out there' or 'in here' there is another 'us' another Ben, so perhaps ladies you should gather your skirts and run for the hills while you can!

One problem is the word 'Alien'. People have prejudices, make assumptions and jump to conclusions when they see it. Alien really just means 'different to us'.

70,000 miles is nothing for a modern car. Mileages of 200,000 are achievable with regular oil changes and servicing. If you do keep a car for a long time you do miss out on all the innovations in goodies and gizmos though.

Thats no banger Col , it looks smart and a 2.0 its a mover, you made the right choice buy a decent car ,look after it and keep it, it makes good financial sense. I have at last made my mind up to keep this one and not waste any more money buying new ones, there is too many buttons, switches and voices and buzzers telling me info I dont need on cars made now.

Was due to go into QMC for opp on my capple tunnel (wrist) had a call 6 00 night before, now have to have it done at the City hospital. I| could not praise the staff enough. Very organized, gave you a good check over, did a covi test and more. After opp was taken back to my room, then the nurse came over ask if i would like a cup of tea and a sandwhich. Nothing was to much trouble for them.. Boris take note and give the NHS staff a nice big rise. They sre worth every £ they get.

Earth Angel was issued in the UK, on the London label, with the triangular centre and the Gold print..which I have never seen. I can't find out how many copies were produced.. but it is one of the rarest UK singles in existence..especially in anything approaching mint condition. Been a while since I visited, and wondered if anyone has memories of the Locarno? First went in 1960, and was smitten! The music then-when I first went in with a couple of mates, the song Runaway by Del Shannon was playing. After that went every Sat, some Sundays, Bank Holidays. Actually, we fen females are very strong willed, open minded and know our rights! However, I still think women’s exploits are viewed differently from men’s, in the eyes of many of the older generation. Having read comments on Nottstalgia over the past 5 years on various controversial subjects, I can see that some of the people on here are still quite ‘conservative’ in their opinions. That’s not meant as a particularly negative comment btw .... I’m just saying it as I see it.
