  1. RR The answer to that question is that if you are carrying the virus BUT HAVE NO SYMPTOMS, you can still pass it on to other people! That is why people in the same household as someone who has tested positive should keep testing each day to find out if they have also caught it, so they won’t go out and spread it to others ! Children especially often show few symptoms but for their elderly relatives or those with underlying health conditions it is a different matter. They could end up being hospitalised and maybe never return home…. I’m sure you must know this already but I fe

  2. When we were on holiday in Switzerland, during breakfast one morning, one of wifey's teeth came off the top plate after biting a crusty roll. Understandably, she was rather distressed and said she wouldn't go out. I told her it was no big deal as it wasn't a front tooth. I ended up walking up the road to the local supermarket and bought some superglue and stuck the offending tooth back into place. Never gave any thought as to whether it were poisonous or not.

  4. So many memories of old friends and family in the Heathfield Hotel........considered by outsiders to be rough back in the 60s......they were real down to earth folk....who loved a Pint and a sing song with their Pals.........remember so many of the family names......Fishers......Warsop......Welthorne....Fewkes.....Birds.......Crowles.....Wallheads....Ingles...Wakefields..Allsops...Lounds.,,Allcocks.and many more........... 5. Trial by media these days. The sleazier, the better. The Plaintiff, as I understand it, was quite happy to accept large amounts of money from the perpetrator, Epstein. Not only that, she was quite willing to introduce her young friends to him, lured by the promise of yet more money. She knew what would befall them. Should there not be some case brought against her for her actions? Another hefty payment was accepted to buy her silence. Now, it seems, she will want more than a substantial financial settlement because she wants to be 'vindicated'. Personally, I would want

  6. Are we also going to be banned from keeping dwarf rabbits as pets or growing dwarf varieties of plants? Why don't we all just have our tongues cut out in case we transgress by uttering something someone objects to?

  7. So now we can't buy a bag of midget gems because the pc brigade have struck again. Where the hell are we going with the English language? Left to their own devices the do gooders will destroy life as we have known it for years and most definitely the way we are allowed to speak. Enough is enough.

  8. I'd never heard of them before, but reading their website they seem to be living in extreme cuckoo land. Their naivety is alarming.

  9. I was lucky enough to participate in one of the visits organised by Janine a few years ago, along with Enigma1st of this parish. The first thing that I noticed was how it was so mucky under foot, seemingly untouched since the rails were lifted (we left a trail of sooty footprints in the Vic Centre car park on exiting the tunnel!) You'd think they could open it up to provide some revenue; perhaps a series of stalls to form a 'linear market'? Sure it would need several access points to the streets and maybe a lift or two but all technically feasible. It houses the District Heating Scheme

  10. There was, maybe still is, a proposal by the council to use the tunnel as part of the route for the new battery trams.

  15. I posted this on the Nottingham from the owd days Facebook group as I was looking for more information. Found out that the building in the background was the old Heathfield Pub / Hotel on Arnold Road, Basford. My dad, Derek Chawner, is front centre: I knew he was in the Boys Brigade but apparently this was the junior section then known as the Life Boys for around 8 - 11 year olds.

  17. Hi Alpha and Jill Sparrow Apologies for delay in replying. Other memories are of walking past the garage at the top of Maud Street on the way to school and the delightful smell of some kind of solution that wafted out from there. As you got to the top of Maud Street and turned left, there was a little shop that was divided into 2 parts, first half of shop being sweets, papers etc and the second half a grocery type store, I remembered being allowed to weigh out the potatoes! I had two lovely friends who lived just across the road from Hope Cottages on Maud Street, Ja

  18. Today was the first day that I have felt reasonably well following a week with a heavy cold. Not had a cold for years and can't remember one as bad as this. Several LFT's proved negative. Anyway, yesterday and today I wrote a short story, intended for juniors, for our club magazine. It is entitled The Enchanted Trout and is about 3 trout who are on a mission to help our Planet. Our club chairman liked it so much that he wants more instalments, so it is becoming a trilogy. I even did a steady 70 minutes on the bike and rower, so things are looking up. Life is good
