  1. When I was going through my radiotherapy Royston'd phone or send a message most days asking how it went, & tell me about what side effects he'd had & when they came on. He had 37 RT sessions & I only had 20, but my daily radiation dose of 3Gy's (300 rads) was almost double his of 1.6 Gy's, we never found out why the difference. He was taking part in a trial of insulin for ongoing prostate cancer treatment, he was in the control group that didn't receive insulin. He persuaded me to take part in a Southampton Uni thing where I fill in a tick box survey of how I'm going on every 6 mon

  4. Funny how things you did in your past keep coming back when you least expect them. I started this thread in 2015 with a load of screen shots off a DVD. I've lost count how many times I've seen them reappear all over the internet. They are great reminders of how life looked when I was a kid, going to my grandparents house.

  6. Thank you so much, DavidW, for finding that. It`s good to know Fred was a lovely man. I have been in touch with the Lenton Local History Society and they have found out quite a lot for me. Jean and Eric had a greengrocer`s shop in Willoughby Street, next door to where Fred was living - I think it was his old hardware shop, which they appear to have taken over when Fred retired. He lived there until a year before he died. They had previously printed an article on Eric and Jean`s shop in Willoughby Street, which was interesting.   8. Not all of the filming was done in Nottingham. It seems there may be misinformation or confusion as I’ve read that the Goose Fair scenes were not done at Nottingham but I’ve also read they were. I remember as a very young child being taken on the fair and seeing large stage lights and cameras set up next to one of the rides with some action and crowds looking on. When older recalling this I always believed it was SNSM being filmed but who knows. Although Arthur is seen riding his bike and turning into the canal side at Lenton near where Central studios were, the scene where they are sat fishin
