  1. I loved the old library when I was younger. For years I went down most Sat mornings. I loved the atmosphere in there, the calm and the smell of books. In the entrance porch..on the left wall as I recall, there was a framed needlework 'Sampler' by some youngster from many many years before. Although I have no interest in needlework, the historical idea fascinated me. Would leave my old push bike outside. Nobody pinched 'em back then.   3. When we were training to Razor cut (ladies) we all so used a cut throat razor but we had to pratice on blownup ballons. At the end of the day, the tutor would always have to order some more ballons for the next session. Prendeds theres a name you can't forget they had about 8 salon's at the time there was also Stanley Dennis who allso had about the same number of salons. Can you remember the shop above The Talbot /Yates/Slug & Lettce it had scissors that permantley would keep swinging. This was Stanley Barber's and then there was Clarks school of Hairdressing who would give you 6

Just found this photo (below or above) on the net........it shows a Marsdens on Moor street Mansfield in the 1930's.......even before my time.....it states in the right up the Manager went on to Manage Marsdens in Bulwell.................. Managers name was Wilfred Morley and the piece was written by his Grandson...

  7. We had solar panels on our house in Doncaster. We didn’t buy them, it was from a company who “leased” your roof for 25 years, can’t remember the name. We got to use the electric that came from them and the company got the money from the government. They did all the maintenance, etc and after the 25 years they either removed them or you could keep them. When we sold the house the lease was transferred to the new owner. After we had them I had to give the electric company a meter reading for my bill and noticed that the meter was going backwards, very fast I might add. Did a double take and i

  9. Not being allowed to say what you think is, basically, the situation in Russia. Everyone should be allowed to say what they think, no matter who it offends. Reciprocal rights granted, of course. If we can't be mature enough to hear someone else's opinion, even if we don't agree with it, without turning puce, foaming at the mouth and lacing their choccie bar with poison then we need to go back and play in the sand pit until we can grow up.
