  1. Kwarteng is my MP. Privileged and useless and no interest in local issues. The sheep in the constituency will no doubt continue to vote for him

  2. County - Lose 2-3 at home to Coalville Town, who are 5th in the Southern League Premier Division, in the FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round. Not sure if they played a full-strength team. Next home game is Friday night against lowly Maidstone who are in a relegation spot. Stags - Beat mid table Walsall 2-1 at Field Mill. Now only one point from an automatic promotion spot with a game in hand over Northampton who are above them in the table. Next game away at relegation threatened Crawley Town. Last because they are last Forest - Woeful Forest lose 1-0 away to Wolverhampton Wand

  3. According to Wikepidia John de Plumptre, Mayor of Nottingham, founded Plumptre Hospital in 1392. It was dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary and supported two priests and "thirteen poor women broken down of age and depressed of poverty". It was endowed with 13 properties around the town.

  4. Also in the Plumptre Square area is/was the Plumptre Hospital - and the building is still there. http://www.nottshistory.org.uk/articles/sneinton/sm65_21-28.htm

  5. In the Lace Market there is a Plumptre Street, Plumptre Square and a Plumptre Place. There are some similar places elsewhere in the county. All spelled with 2 'P's and 1'e'. Interesting factoid; Town Arms pub was in Plumptre Square between Pemberton st and Short stairs. I believe the milkman daily delivered there many years ago.

  7. @Oztalgian likely to have been named after the Plumtre family who owned a large house on Stoney Street. (John )Plumtre had been an M.P. for Nottingham.

  8. This is the city centre Truman's - which was on Beastmarket Hill - but it appears to be a Shipstone pub. The name across the front refers to CB and WH Truman who were presumably the landlords. https://picturenottingham.co.uk/image-library/image-details/poster/ntgm012624/posterid/ntgm012624.html
