  4. Going into anorak mode, my previous post was not totally accurate. I thought the photo looked a bit too old for the tram conversion. That photo is from the late 70s when the original central span was demolished for safety reasons, and a replacement section was installed. Then in the early 2000s that replacement was enlarged to accommodate trams.

  5. Never seen that one before. Wilford Toll Bridge being 'converted' to take trams, with the Toll House just visible on the right. That's till there today and operates as a cafe.

Trip to Retford market this morning but called at Markham first to pick up a garden shredder/chipper I bought second hand so that will be a job for tomorrow, give it a good cleaning, oiling and greasing where needed before starting on the birch tree cuttings I did a few weeks ago, anyway, cold and damp In Retford but had a nice breakfast in one of the little cafes near the market place, didn't fancy sitting in traffic at the roadworks on the outskirts of the town so decided to turn left out of the car park and head toward the A1 that way, big mistake, A1 blocked solid with traffic heading sout

  8. Firstly Letsav, the gold sale may or may not have been unwise. Expert opinion seems divided, but eitherway it had little to no long term impact. Other than that Labour were doing pretty well until the sort of people who are more closely allied to the Tories, I.E. International speculators etc..., brought about a World Economic Collapse. Brown was praised for his approach to tackling that, but inevitably it cost us dearly and the Tories were able to blame Labour and make people believe it. I'd love to have seen how May, Cameron, Johnson, Truss or Sunak would have tackled it. Recent evidenc
