  1. Wonder what it would come up with if you asked it for an ode in Dalai Chulla mode?

  3. Stags - Despite winning 0-2 at Colchester United, Salford City only conceded one goal in their defeat at the hands of Gillingham means Stags miss out on the play-offs by only two goals. It just shows how vital every goal you score and concede is. Their form slump at the end of the season has proved costly. Forest - Scramble out of the relegation zone in a 7 goal thriller by beating Southampton 4-3 in front of 29,000 fans at the city ground last night. Taiwo Awoniyi scored for the Reds in the 18th minute and again in the 21st. Southampton scored in the 26th minute making the first h

  4. We've got a Drifters compilation CD in our car on almost permanent play . Just for fun I asked the artificial intelligence site Chatgpt to produce love song lyrics in the style of tunes by the Drifters and within seconds it produced this. I'm certainly no poet but it seems ok to me , apart from the very last line where it's given hands to doves ! Now just need a good tune and could have a "hit record" !! This was the command : Make love song lyrics in the style of the The Drifters songs

  5. As I was reading your post Jill, I thought of Hyacinth! I love the episode where she bought skis for the roof rack on the car, so the neighbours thought they could ski!

  11. The children on this photo were five years old and possibly in their first term at school. The end classroom, accessed via a door in the wall immediately adjacent to the Brushfield Street gate, was the domain of those in their first term. It was equipped with sand tray, water tray, clay, painting equipment (including red aprons made of rubber ranged on hooks under a window), pasting equipment, roleplay post office, complete with a real black Bakelite telephone, toys, bricks, etc. The adjoining classroom was accessed via an interconnecting door and was equipped with books and more formal tea

  12. County - After going behind 0-2 in the first half, a second half brace by Aden Baldwin and a last gasp goal by Jodi Jones sees the Maggies into the final against "local" team Chesterfield at Wembley Stadium next Saturday. It is going to be a tough one. One big last effort needed, "Come on you Maggies" Stags - Even if they can win well away against Colchester today it looks like goal difference may well prevent them from getting into the play-offs unless Leyton Orient really thump Bradford City. I cant see any of the other teams being beaten by enough goals to make a difference to t

  13. Well done, Notts. They only need to beat Chesterfield now. And in other results, Sheffield Wednesday beat Derby, and with Peterborough also winning, it means Derby are going to have to spend another year in League One.

  14. I’m not a huge football fan but my dad was a life long County fan. He often joked that the ref would wait for him to sit down before he’d start the match. So it has rubbed off somewhat and I’ve followed Notts fantastic season. What a fairy tale match today. Final score 3 - 2 with Notts scoring in the final few minutes of normal time to draw level at 2 all and then scoring the winner in the final minutes of extra time. Brilliant. Wembley net week then.

  15. As the season draws to a close I have come to the conclusion that if I had a choice for the final outcomes I would rather have County promoted to the EFL and Forest relegated than for County to remain in the Vanarama and Forest remain in the EPL. As a lifelong Forest supporter I am hoping that we get a fairytale ending to the season for both Notts and Forest. Is Cooper safe if Forest get relegated? I doubt it. Sadly I am not sure if the Stags can qualify for the play-offs as the wheels seem to have come off over the recent games. Is Clough Jnr safe if they fail to reach the play-offs

  16. I paid for a couple of transcriptions on the 1921 Census . Could see my dad (born 1913) with my grandad , plus my dads siblings. They were living on Carlton Hill or Main Street , Carlton as it was called then. I already knew my grandad (who died 1940) had been a cinema projectionist and always wondered where he worked . Thought he probably got on a tram into town to work. This census gives employers name and it said he worked at The Alexandra Palace , Netherfield , working for a Mr C. Woodward. Later this became the Cosy Cinema . That closed in 1955.
