  1. Thanks to everyone for the supportive comments. I usually just ‘get on with it’ but the rainbow tipped me over the edge. I’ve had (and am still having) a happy and fulfilled life, for which I really thank God. Margie x

  2. Aww Margie maybe it will improve and hopefully is just temporary. Just got back early hours from my favourite city Florence. I never want to come back! I have never seen so many Yanks there before, think they’ve re invented the Grand Tour doing whistle stop 2 day visits over a fortnight to the places where you need a whole lot more than that.

  3. Well plants, growbags and compost have cost me £106. I’m hoping for bumper crops! The owner of the nursery specifically instructed me not to use peat free compost as that was not the medium they were grown in and ‘peat free would kill em’. I didn’t see her logic but I will follow her instruction!. My contribution to being eco friendly is maintaining four acres of wildflower meadow so I think I contribute more than most people.

  4. I looked wistfully at the unset seeds in their packets on the hall table yesterday and decided it was too late to set them now. Off we went to Shirley Nurseries to buy some plants. We’ve now got four cucumber and eighteen tomato plants ready to plant in the two greenhouses. £29 lighter plus £30 for the ring culture pots. I’ve just got to get the potting compost and some growbags plus some pepper plants. For the amount spent we would be able to buy a lot of produce from the supermarket without all the hassle of tending, feeding and watering. I sometimes wonder why I bother!

  5. Sorry to read this Margie, , I'm hopelessly colour blind so have never seen rainbow colours but it must be terrible for you having seen the colours previously, I hope the problem is just a hic up and your eyesight gets back to normal as soon as possible Rog

  6. Phil, not sure why she is described as a ‘woman of colour’ Was she not just a woman ? On another note, do you do your own composting? You can always mix half of that when it’s ready with half bought compost. I can understand your comments about peat free as a lot of it soon dries out and is very woody. At least the peat compost did hold the moisture. One of the reasons for not depleting the peat bogs is that they absorb so much carbon, even more than trees which can only be a good thing.

  7. Elsewhere in Italy, Il Papa told off some woman for asking him to bless her baby who turned out to be a dog! Miserable little pontiff. I hope it bit him! The Bishop of Rome ( as our old vicar would insist on calling him) rather likes putting his hands on the swollen abdomens of pregnant women, apparently. He calls it blessing. I call it very concerning.

  8. I quite enjoy going to a supermarket to see the ‘sights’. The best today was a ‘woman of colour’ riding an electric scooter down the aisle with a security guard in hot pursuit! That was in Morrison’s - wouldn’t happen in Waitrose!

  10. Agree with Letsavagoo, if something had have happened and serious injury or death occured there would be questions as to why the Met did nothing to stop it beforehand. Uk viewing audience approx 20 million World viewing audience up to 400 million

  11. I believe the coronation was an extraordinary event to police. The police had intelligence that the horses could be tear gassed or targeted the procession blocked and the proceedings seriously disrupted. I am not a royalist but we were on the world stage. Some may consider it was the correct time and place, indeed the ideal opportunity to protest but a few to spoil the enjoyment of thousands. I believe the police made the right call. My criticism of the police is it seems they have now apologised. Pathetic.

  15. I feel sad today. Paul said there was a bright rainbow so I looked up (I’ve always loved rainbows) but I couldn’t see the colours… I could sort of see where it was but it just looked white and a kind of lemon colour . Must admit I cried as it was as such a shock. . I can see all the colours in most things albeit a bit faded but the colours in the rainbow just seemed non existent. I’m crying again now as I write this because I know I’ll never ever see a rainbow again……
