  1. Went out for a superb Sunday lunch with our oldest friends to The Woodlark in Lambley, where we eat quite regularly and they never disappoint. Next month ‘The Lambley’ in the village is due to re-open, for the umpteenth time and hope the new owners will make a go of it. We were chucked out of there (twice!) several years ago, the landlord should never have been in the hospitality industry, both times we ended up in the car park wondering what the hell we’d said or done!!! Oh and it’s our 48th Wedding Anniversary today.

  3. The Fox & Hounds at Blidworth Bottoms is a lovely little pub, with decent food. If you’re planning on walking around Blidworth woods, though, don’t go there late in the day. I used to walk our Labrador round there and it took a while to work out why there were so many cars in the car park and nobody walking. I found out later that it was a hotspot for “dogging”.

  9. Happy anniversary @LizzieM My mother's family (maternal line) came from Lambley and she spent a lot of time there as a child. Her parents and siblings and herself often visited family members there after tea on Sundays. The children would play in the fields whilst the adults enjoyed a drink in The Woodlark. At one time, every pub in Lambley was kept by great grandma Lizzie Thompson's relatives, all of them retired farmers. My mother and some of her friends spent what would now be called her hen night at The Nag's Head which still had earth closets at the time!

  10. It is about time all religious denominations had their tax exempt status removed as I understand that it was originally granted as the money donated to them goes towards helping individuals that the taxpayer would normally have to assist.

  12. Everyone was a hero yesterday, it was clearly meant to be. Great credit has to go to Luke William's and Ryan Harley's tactics. Many times this season Notts have worn out teams by keeping the ball thus forcing the opposition to chase after it. Yesterday Cook had to substitute Dallas, Colclough and Dobra because they were all knackered. I would guess these three were also decent penalty takers but that's not to take anything away from Archie Mair's brilliant performance in the shoot out. I highlighted the inspired goalkeeper substitution in my earlier post. Luke knows an
