  1. Why do you feel the need to influence others? What is your motivation for so doing? Is it because you think you know better than they? Is it because it feeds your ego if and when you succeed? Is it because you want everyone to think as you do? The world would be a wonderful place if everyone saw life through your eyes? People have their own eyes. Please grant others the courtesy of thinking for themselves. Their thoughts, ideas and beliefs are just as valid as yours, you know.

  2. Although we live in a wine growing province I know little about wine apart from drinking it of which is Barbera. We have at least 6-7 wine producers near us.All are available for tours and tasting. Foreigners come from everywhere for their wine even USA when they visit their summer home in the village. Apparently on Saturday alone 30.000 people were in the top part of the village and as we were voted one of the most beautiful villages in Italy we had a bumper festival.

  3. That's rather a condescending attitude towards others; and also a very politically-biased statement. (And I'm definitely no great supporter of the current Tory Government). Some people - although not me - would say that those 'Tory machinations' are exactly what the country needs at the moment. They fully understand what is being said.

  4. It makes our village’s ‘Open Gardens’ look a bit tame! Many years ago an old lady, a keen homemade winemaker, organised a ‘tasting’ in her garden. There were no grapes involved in the ‘wines’. I’ve never seen so many people totally legless. Sadly the occasion wasn’t repeated.

  6. Phil re medlars. Once you’ve done the juice extraction the volume is reduced as you’re only straining the clear juice really. Don’t be tempted to get any more liquid by pressing more through the sieve as it makes the finished product cloudy. We mackled up a suspended sieve over a big mixing bowl overnight which although looked a bit “Heath Robinson” worked. Just compost the left overs in the sieve. If you have any spare jars made it is always good to give to friends and family as it’s a bit unusual. Great with a ploughmans. On another note, I see that the Tap and Run at Upper

  7. As the final whistle has all but blown on league games for season 2022/23 I thought I would add my thoughts for next season. One play off to be decided Forest - After taking the lead in the 31st minute with a Taiwo Owoniyi goal they conceded an equaliser midway through the second half to come away from Crystal Palace with a 1-1 draw. Obviously there is a need for a major restructure to ensure progress next season. A goalscorer is a must and some have said a new goalie is needed. Many of the players signed upon promotion will have to go as they have not performed so a fire sale

  9. I wouldn't want to go back (in time) Loppy. I do enjoy visiting such places, though, even if I didn't particularly appreciate being there as a child. I suppose I can reassure myself that I've done that and survived it.
