  1. I don't remember Linden Lea at all. What about My love's an arbutus, The dashing white sergeant, The Birdcatcher, Sweet Kitty Clover, The Miller's Flowers and plenty more
  2. I was a bridesmaid too, at that church in 1964. I was 7 and so proud of my lovely outfit!
  3. I loved Ilya Kuryakin as a child, purely because of his looks. Dr Spock admirers should only be nerdy men -stay away from them!
  4. I know him, Jill. I can ask him, if you want, or I can ask him if it's OK to give you his email address. Or, you could contact him via the Lenton Times website
  5. I disagree Jill-some people haven't got the ability or time to do the research themselves Be careful who you choose to carry out research
  6. Jonab I'm so sorry to hear about your health problems. You've been missed - I've enjoyed hearing about la vie en France. Take care
  7. Nonna - how lovely it looks for your well deserved break. We went to Sicily for around 10 days a few years ago and loved it
  8. I never understood how fruit juice could be a starter
  9. Can't beat the Leonard Cohen version - one of my favourites of his - Sincerely L Cohen!
  10. Was the shoe shop called Mansfield?
  11. Brew. You're obviously an educated and very articulate person. Move on from your narrow opinion of Little Richard with his mascara - so what? (and the tinned carrots and peas!)
  12. I'm amazed they're still available. I had plenty of them as a child, but would never dream of eating them now, and anyway I only ever liked the pastry. The only preparation is removing the lid!
  13. I found some of it interesting, as CT says. I was expecting the reaction from a lot of you, though!
  14. I could read well too, before I went to Infant school. I've only got one book I had as a child now - a book of poems for children, and my Mum had helpfully written the date I was given it - Christmas 1964, so I'd only just turned 8. I loved Little Women, although not so keen on Heidi, but I was a big fan of Bunty and loved Enid Blyton
  15. That's great to hear Ben
  16. Don't be sorry Mary. You did what you thought was best
  17. I think I'd have asked her what evidence she had or what she'd seen or anything her daughter had said or done or any physical signs and then told her to report it to the police. You were in a very difficult situation, Mary
  18. Oh Mary, I'm sorry you had to go through that -it must have been really scary. He deserved that kick
  19. SG. You're not paranoid. Your list was spot on, and, I think, a significant proportion of women have had to know those things from being a young teenager and it's just been accepted that women have to change their behaviour for their own safety. A curfew for all men would be ridiculous, but it's been going on for so long, something has to change
  20. BK. I don't know why anyone would want to listen to any of his views
