  1. The following appear to be siblings of May Florrie, b 1887 approx Maude, b 1885 approx Joseph H, b 1889 approx Ada, b 1890 approx Alice, b 1892 approx Louisa, b 1894 approx Frederick, b 1899 approx Frank, b 1902 approx
  2. DavidW I wanted to know the siblings names because I couldn't find the family on the 1901 census but have now found them on the 1911 as May's year of birth is now known - she's transcribed as Mary. To find descendants you have to obviously know their names, to find who they might have married and any possible children/grandchildren.
  3. When and where was your Mum born, please, and do you know her Mum's name and names of your Mum's siblings and approx when they were born?
  4. Lots of hits in the National Archives Catalogue for the Company - search here http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/SearchUI/
  5. It is Richard Parkes Bonington, on his home in Arnold??
  6. Agreed, that site about the old place is really good and I still remember most of the teachers!
  7. Thanks Mess. Had already seen several photos of my brother and his friends on Friends Reunited, but none of me!
  8. I went to Beechdale school briefly - 1960/62 ish. My brother was there too, probably 1949 onwards, although I don't remember any of the names mentioned.
  9. Rog Probably too late for us to have known them then!
  10. Thanks Plantfit. I don't recognise the name but then I was young when we left. I've actually got a page from a Directory - 1956, I think, listing residents of Glenbrook Cres and they're not on it. My parents moved in when they were first built - mid/late 40's? and we left about 1964. Perhaps they lived there at a different time?
  11. I lived in one on Glenbrook Crescent until I was about 7. Who was your Grandma, plantfit?!
  12. The Evening Post for 1944 is available on this site - free to search but you have to pay to view images http://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/
  13. Oh I recognise George, the tallest man! The snake girl was promoted as being very exotic but when I saw her she was sitting there scoffing a Hot Dog!
  14. Hadn't heard about this - how sad. Went to see him many years ago in Nottingham. He was brilliant.
  15. I assumed this too. Blatherwick is a known name, though, isn't it? Freak seems much more unusual. Perhaps he means surname, by "this last name" rather than the last name mentioned in his message.
  16. You can't look at the 1931 census. Directories are your best bet.
  17. Lots of hits for the surname Freak on the Familysearch site, and free, although not complete https://familysearch.org/
  18. Yes, the buses were 56 and 60 which I used to catch to Bilborough. Don't remember the 13!
  19. Brilliant photos - really enjoyed looking at them
  20. I don't remember it but if a room in our house was untidy my Mum would say "It's like Jackie Pownall's in 'ere"!
  21. I'm not that old! Probably the one.
  22. There was one on Alfreton Road. I had a Saturday job there when I was at school.
  23. Thanks for your kind comment, Babs. Ann
