  1. Richard T died in 1932 and married Elsie S Smith in 1924. There's a Letter of Administration for him where Elsie Sybil Stapleton adminstered the estate Searching for any births of children with mothers maiden name Smith throws up a few possibilities but without birth certs, can't be sure that they were the children of the right couple.

Elsie may have remarried - to an Arthur L Cree in 1936, although can't see any children born to them in Notts.

Emma Jane left a Will. Might be worth getting a copy of that to see who is mentioned and their addresses.

  2. There are 2 things I remember him for - he appeared on the front page of the Evening Post when he made some of the boys have their fashionably long hair cut short. The other one was something that he recited to us in a Music lesson which I remember to this day

quadrupedante putrem sonitu quatit ungula campum.

Googling it leads to this explanation

By the age of Augustus, poets like Virgil closely adhered to the rules of the meter and approached it in a highly rhetorical way, looking for effects that can be exploited in skilled recitation. For example, the following line from the Aeneid (VIII.596) describes the movement of rushing horses and how "a hoof shakes the crumbling field with a galloping sound": quadrupedante putrem sonitu quatit ungula campum

This line is made up of five dactyls and a closing spondee, an unusual rhythmic arrangement that imitates the described action

Slightly above our heads, I think, at around 12 years of age!

  3. I assume you don't know his real name, or where he was born? A few ideas....

Find out from newspapers local to where he as appearing, if you have places and a rough idea of date, the name of the show or company. The Company may have Archives.

Electoral roll for the 2 streets in Nottingham (held at the Local Studies Library in Nottm), although you'd need the whole of both streets and, if he wasn't born until 1934, he wouldn't appear until 1955 ish - ie when he was 21 and eligible to vote. Also, if he was only living there short term or wasn't born here he may not appear.

  4. Could this be Frank's death in Sheffield, therefore ruling him out? Also, the only one of the three where I've found a possible death in Nottingham is Arthur - Arthur Willoughby 1893 Jul-Aug-Sep 1982 Nottingham Nottinghamshire

    Frank Willoughby abt 1892 Oct-Nov-Dec 1927 Sheffield

    Yorkshire West Riding

  5. Do you know his wife's maiden name? If not, you could get it by ordering the birth cert for one of their children. At least with his wife's name you may be able to find their marriage, although you don't know where it might have taken place! The record MAY give Henry's fathers name, which might help in finding a baptism.

As he was an Innkeeper there may be an obit for him in the local newspaper. He may also have left a will, so it could be worth getting a copy, if so, just in case he left anything to any siblings, although as he had so many children, perhaps they, or his wife, if she was still alive, got the lot!
