  1. A difficult choice but think it would have to be either Led Zeppelin III or Exile On Main Street.
  2. He did a whole album of Christmas songs, it's great fun and worth a listen.
  3. Katyjay, you're right in that you search the database in a variety of ways- http://www.1901censusonline.com/search.asp?wci=person_search
  4. You could try searching an online census and see if that provides a clue to their occupations.
  5. I don't remember the old one at all but then I would have still been at junior school. I agree with Stu about the demise of a place that used to be so popular. When I was a teenager the two most popular haunts this side of town were The Grosvenor and The White Hart - both used to be packed, both did meals and both had a relatively young clientèle. I can only assume the demise of the White Hart is down to poor management and a succession of different companies constantly changing the place. The Grosvenor has had its problems but has survived, perhaps, the nearby college has helped but, more
  6. The White Hart in Arnold has also been demolished, it's been boarded up for at least a couple of years.
  7. Apologies, if this has been posted before but I've only just found it and it looks a really useful resource. http://www.closedpubs.co.uk/nottinghamshire/nottingham.html
  8. Before St Paul’s church was built Daybrook was partly in the parish of St Mary’s, Arnold and partly in St John’s, Carrington. 12. It looks like Wollaton Hall is going in be used as Wayne Manor in the next Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises. The Park will be closed for a couple of weeks between June 20th until July 6th http://batman-news.com/2011/06/07/wollaton-hall-to-be-wayne-manor-in-the-dark-knight-rises/

  15. Ashley, no it wasn't - this one didn't leave school until the mid 70's.
  16. I think Craig needs some specs! There's only one name I can give you and that is 2nd row from the top, 4th from the left is Nigel Gibson - I'm still in touch with him and his brother, in fact they both came to the Gaffa gig on Saturday.
  17. I really enjoyed it, Gaffa turned in a good set and I bumped into quite a few people I've not seen for years.
  18. Any idea what year this is? That looks like Ted Milne with a nice set of sideburns in the centre.
  19. Interesting topic, I think I'd go for 1642 and the raising of the Royalist standard and, perhaps, 1811 to follow the Luddites.
  20. You can now listen to Gaffa's album Neither Use Nor Ornament online at
  21. Ian, if you get stuck there are some short video tutorials here - http://photoephemeris.com/videos
