Zab - are you any relation to Ben Zabulis by any chance? - he was in my class during my time at Claremont. I made contact with him a few years ago when there was a school reunion at Llyods Bar in Hockley in 2003 ish. He is or was working somewhere exotic in Asia I think.
Hi Fewkeste, sorry for the late reply, only just noticed this! Yes, I am, Ben is my younger brother, he came make to the UK briefly but emigrated back out to Hong Kong in 2015. He's on Facebook if you want to make contact or I can provide an email address.
I've also recently heard that David Wheatley (famed maths teacher) is still going strong, he's in his nineties and is now a vicar!

I’ve been asked to help out a group who are trying to save what’s left of Hucknall Airfield, in particular, the Wing Hanger which is a very unique structure and under threat of demolition – the aim is to save the hanger and turn it into an aviation museum.
I’m sure many of us have fond memories some of us will have memories of being taken to the air displays at Hucknall, or even hearing/seeing the Vulcan bomber that was stationed there. At the moment they’re looking for people to support the campaign, there are a couple ways of doing this - if you're on Facebook could you like/share the page or, if you want to have a more hands on approach, follow the volunteer links on the website - links below.

I've not seen him around town for ages, somebody I know thought he might have moved to Sheffield.

Just for information - if you do run out of storage and need lots more, the free account on Flickr provides a limit of 1 terabyte.

A bit of both I think, the paintwork had started to deteriorate plus there was also some graffiti.

My father Michael (Mick) Wright used to go to Claremont Secondary Bilateral Modern, he would have left in 1964. Does anyone know which building it would have been then? I believe the family lived on Tissington Road. Perhaps some of you may remember him?
That would have been the one on Claremont Road, an annexe at Seely on Perry Road was also used.

Yes, I saw the little engine about 5 years ago. Is it still there I wonder or has it been vandalised. I'll have to have a look next time we're in Nottingham.
Yes it is, it's recently had a paint job.

There's also quite a few photos on Facebook, some featuring Mr Dibb.

I went to Claremont 1972-1976 I remember the fire and Mr Dibb I used to help him build walls and put roller black boards on the wall great days
i am looking to find a class photo with Mr dibb he was my form tutor
Found this on Friends Reunited some time ago, it's dated 1966 - unfortunately, I've not got a larger version.

This is a nice clip that features Signe and Marty Balin.

I use Elements 13 and it works fine, the only hiccup I've found is that the Windows Picture Viewer can't open Fuji RAF files - that will be corrected eventually; I can get around that by converting the files to DNG or using a different viewer. No problems with jpegs, tiffs etc.

Just remembered that Ian Dury played at Clarenden College as part of Kilburn and the High Roads. That was in the seventies, not sure of the year.

One of my all time favourite LPs is 'Charge' anyone get to see Paladin in Nottm?
Yes, saw them at the Albert Hall, I think they were on with Uriah Heep - still got the album too, always liked it for the Roger Dean sleeve.

The Boat Club was my main haunt, those I can remember seeing on that small stage include Gary Moore Band, Supertramp, Nazareth, East of Eden, Jack the Lad, UFO, Trapeze, Heavy Metal Kids, Def Leppard, Stretch, The Scorpions.
Other gigs that spring to mind -
Trent Poly - I can remember Mike Nesmith (Monkees), Focus and Nazareth
Palais - Ten Years After, Status Quo
Albert Hall - Atomic Rooster, Black Sabbath

I'm sure I took some pictures of the shows at the University, will have to check my old negatives to see if I've still got them. There were also some great bands on at the Boat but these were mostly pay on the door - so no tickets.
You also have to remember that in the 70's there were no large music venues in Nottingham, so lots of people travelled to Leicester or Sheffield to see the more famous acts.
For local events, I've still got ticket stubs from the following -
University - also got ticket stubs for Eddie & the Hot Rods (1979), Amazing Blondel (1975), Procol Harum (1975)
Albert Hall - Stackridge (1975)
If these are any use, let me know and I can scan them for you.

General consensus amongst contacts of mine is that the bridge was gone by 1972, I'd still like to get an exact date if I could - hoping an ex employee might know.
As regards, the swimming pool, access was from Haydn Road and you needed a pass, only available to employees, to get in; I used to live across the road and during my teens used to go nearly every day; it's a shame it was eventually closed.
-
I'm trying to remember when the bridge at Meridian on Haydn Road was demolished - the picture is a still from 1966.
I've got a feeling it was the late sixties but could have been early seventies, does anybody know for certain?

I use McAfee too as I get it free with my broadband package but if I wanted a freebie, I'd probably take a look at-

I actually came across his gravestone recently - it's in St Nicholas' churchyard.

As Springsteen once said, "Unions have been the only effective voice working people have ever had in the history of this country." He was referring to the States but it applies equally here.

It does make you smile though and there are some funny responses to it, I think this is the best -

Why didn't he just keep his mouth shut? Do you go around shouting "I'm a heterosexual"? Why do gays feel the need to do so?
He didn't - the following article has details on his offence and conviction.

I'm pleased he's been given a royal pardon, let's face it - the treatment given to all homosexuals in that era was dreadful. I also sympathise with those that say the pardon should be extended to other victims.

We saw it in Sherwood - travels from west to east - timings for other days can be found here-
