  1. As a Forest fan now living in East Sussex it seemed to be appropriate!
  2. Thank you everyone - great to be in the club!
  3. I had a great meal at a fish restaurant on the quay at Hobart back in 1991 - can't remember the name. On the same trip I remember having superb scallops in pastis at Doyles On The Beach in Watsons Bay NSW. sr
  4. Didn't realise I had Trevor - thanks for noticing and pointing it out!
  5. Anyone remember Kathleen McGrath who I believe was at St Bernadettes about '67-'74?
  6. Point Duty : the stationing of a policeman or traffic warden at a road junction to control and direct traffic
  7. Lions lucky last week, Aussies lucky this week. And both very close scores. All sets up a great final next week in which the Aussies have home advantage. Can't wait - it's going to be a real nailbiter!
  8. ... but I would have served some of you in the Sal
  9. Our Friday tour was based on The Fly, The Sal, Royal Kids, Imperial, Bell, Yates, Tavern and Mortimers Cavern. Sometimes a variation around the Dog & Bear, Thurland, Newmarket and of course Frodos/Warrows. Rob L would remember.
  10. I remember a popular destination for us when we were kids was Bradgate Park / Swithland Wood. It's a great are for walking / picnicing. Car park cost only (didn't use to be!). www.bradgatepark.org
  11. If anyone took geography at Forest Fields between 1955-59 then they may well have received a flying board rubber from my father!
  12. Hi Zab, Thanks for posting the photo - I haven't seen one that good. I Worked here in 73-78. There certainly was an R2 dept. That clubhouse had great facilities.
  13. Thanks Paulus for reassuring my memory function! I was sure we played form 6 feet!
  14. There are one or two things I recall which set Nottnum apart from the rest of the UK for one reason or another. Anyone else remember these, or any other oddities? Am I right that we used to work on Good Friday but get Easter Tuesday off instead? If I'm right, when did that change? Am I right that we played darts from 6 foot rather than the more usual 8-9 foot that was played everywhere else and is is played today? I'm sure that's why I can't play darts today! Was this an East Midlands thing?
  15. Hi Dave, I'll look forward to that book!
  16. In 1954, my parents were living at 54 Chaplin Road, Wembley when I was born in the Central Middlesex Hospital. Keith Moon (8) was living just up the road at number 134. He was born in the same hospital. I never knew until I read his biography a couple of years ago! We moved to Nottingham a year later. More recently Roger Daltrey lives in Sussex, about 6 miles from me - here - next to his fishery.
  17. Hi Banjo, Sorry but Stuart Evans is not a name I remember. Good luck.
  18. I recall the RM ("Reduced Merchandise" aka "Ready Money") shop wher I bought all sorts of clothes for my family and I. Recently the Lyle & Scott pullovers have become fashionable again - I was buying them back then for next to ninepence!
  19. I remember the three day week in 1Q 1974 - I had only been working for a year when we were faced with picket lines on the front gate at Haydn Road. They let us office workers through for some reason - I never really understood why.
