The Star inn is closed, it was a café for a while. There is the usual car wash in the car park.

There is a large factory building on high church st called Victoria works, on a 1913 map it is shown as being a lace machinery factory, so it could be that one, there are other factories shown but they are smaller and shown as lace factories. The Victoria works building is still there.

High church street is off of Northgate.

#581 I wonder if the photo shows the bus on delivery, at the boys club. Driver doesn't have uniform on.

Cliff ton. Yes camms was on faraday road. They might have been on Chettles ind est, previously.
-
What happened to Camms? I remember fetching a few scrap coach bodies from there in the early 80s. Pat Camm was a hoarder of old parts, everything of any use had been stripped out. They had a shop on Ilkeston road at one time.
-
Chris B, Skills also took over Lavers last year, I think they are from somewhere in Leicestershire.
-
Dave N, The old B&O shop is now an employment agency.
-
Ashley, where is this building? they are supposed to be building a new fire station on London road. Giacones garage closed last year to vacate some buildings.
-
Theres quite a bit of work gone into the photos, in his album.

Cattle market is still there, just off of London road. they don't sell livestock anymore.
-
Red, they have been working in that area for a couple of months, possibly with the intention of putting another lane in around crown island.
-
They are on about a controlled demolition to parts of the factory due to it being unsafe, whats the bet that we lose a nice brick building, and something modern looking takes its place.
-
If you look at the map that cliff posted on the topic about the old railway bridge, it is #7. I think the cottage is shown it is called model cottage. That map is dated 1901, so the cottage would be a lot older than that.

There is 2 trams parked on the line next to University boulevard, so I presume they are testing the line at night. I took some photos, but the heavens opened as soon as I got to the middle of the field.

We went to watch the fireworks from the royal centre car park, it was a good vantage point. -
I am with talk talk, it was originally AOL, they have been pretty good, any problems have been sorted, although sometimes it has been a bit long winded, as the call centres are in India. In 17 years I have only needed an engineers visit once, as there was obviously a problem but they could not decide whether it was there fault or a problem with the incoming line (BT) the engineer installed a new modem and everything has been ok since.

Noggin Lane (Bramcote Lane) and The Tottle Brook
taxi ray replied to Graham's topic in Bramcote & Wollaton
Tottle brook runs at the bottom of our garden, it then goes underground and comes out on Bramcote lane, just past the Hemlock stone pub. They did a lot of work making the underground culvert on Bramcote lane bigger, a few years ago as it was prone to flooding. -
Banjo 48, after reading your post today. I recognised the name Hampson, and speaking to the wife she explained a bit more to me. Mr hampson was my wifes geography teacher at Fernwood in the 60s, he was a very well respected teacher. My daughter works in a care home in Beeston and Mr Hampson is a resident, he has been there for about 6 months, my wife seen him at their xmas fair and had a chat about the old times, I believe he is 90+ years old

When the wife worked at the University sports centre, they always had a large karate event over a few days, I think it was organised by Asano, I remember seeing him and his family there a few times over the years. Aiden trimble was also a regular, the wife always done the catering for his karate gradings. Aiden Trimble now has a gym in Beeston.
