  1. I have a bulk feed system on an epson printer, the small pipes are held on to the printer with a small clip, that is fixed with a sticky pad, these soon fell off. I basically taped the pipes around a part of the printer and it has been fine since, you have to get the pipes correct as they move along with the print head, mine has been in use for about 3 years with no problems, and the ink is very cheap. I got mine from ebay.
  2. In the first picture it looks like there is a sign for Skills garage, selling oil and petrol. There is an article in Evening post, mentioning Skills being at the bottom of Derby road. http://www.thisisnottingham.co.uk/Nottingham-coach-firm-Skills-marks-90th-anniversary/story-12262300-detail/story.html
  3. With Wollaton hall, being used as a location for the new Batman film, they have started to bring some of the props, I have just seen a large yellow American school bus arrive. If any one is interested and can get there before this evening, there will probably be some nice things to photograph, as the park is shut to the public as of tomorrow.
  4. I would think that the preferred buyers of this site would be Trent University, ideal for expansion, as all the city centre site is right next to it, and universities seem to have a bottomless pit of cash. Nottingham University have just announced nearly 40 million pounds of building work, so if Trent want to compete they will have to expand.
  5. Resnick, the story of a polish detective, was filmed in Nottingham, it was written by an author from Nottingham. My brother in law was an extra, no fame just a lot of hanging about in the cold. http://jsydneyjones.wordpress.com/2010/10/26/john-harveys-nottingham-the-world-of-charlie-resnick/
  6. It looks like the large signal box at Toton sidings, is due for the chop. It is visible from the A52, coming from Derby.
  7. There must have been a garage on Canal street, sam wards was at london road roundabout, but i dont know when it opened. The texaco on castle boulevard also done repairs, i knew a mechanic that worked there in the 80s, is there a garage that sells petrol and also, repairs cars left?
  8. I have a copy of an old o.s. map of south Nottingham dated 1899, it shows all of the meadows, trent bridge and the area around broad marsh. Forest football ground is shown, Trent bridge cricket ground is shown, Nottts county's ground is not shown so i presume they moved to meadow lane later, the area where the ground is now is indicated as allotments. Where County hall is now is shown as Castle cricket ground i have never heard of this before. The amount of railway lines and buildings associated with the railway is huge, there must have been a lot of rail traffic. On the rear of the map, is
  9. It looks like colwick cheese may be available soon, as a food historian is trying to get it made again. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-nottinghamshire-13724561
  10. Looking on an old map, Berlin Terrace is 1 of 5 terraces that was between the backs of the houses on Wilford Crescent east and Bunbury street, there would be about 12 houses on each side of the terraces, it looks like it is now the playing field of Arkwright junior school. I would imagine that it was demolished in the early 70s as I can remember a lot of houses being cleared then in that area, and I think the school probably dates from the 70s.
  11. In the seventies that building was a showroom, store for all the things that you could buy with the coupons that you got in players packets, it looked a bit more elegant than is seen in the photo.
  12. In the 70's it was a small supermarket. I think it was called Liptons.
  13. Went past the Clifton Bridge Inn, earlier today, it is all tinned up.
  14. Not sure if it has anything to do with your question, but a lot of the streets around that area, between radford boulevard and st. peters street had names that relate to parts of London. Dulwich road Brixton road Clapham street Croydon road Norwood road Sydenham street there is possibly more, but I cant see the names of some of the smaller streets. The pub that was in the middle of all these streets was the Dover Castle, now turned into flats, so possibly the area was built by a company with Southern connections.
  15. There is a moulin rouge chip shop, on trinity square, there is some seating, but you would not call it a restaurant, it has been there for at least 25 years.
  16. I wonder who will foot the bill for all the extra security needed, can't be an easy place to secure as it is pretty much in open countryside, possibly lots of overtime for the met, or a highly paid jolly!
  17. Just been past the Grove on Castle Boulevard, it is all boarded up, looks like it is final.
  18. Regarding the photo from the 30s of Arnold road junction, the 2 houses on the left, the smaller 1 of the 2, my wifes aunt & uncle lived there in the late 50s early 60s, it was known as the railway house. They moved to Australia years ago, I will send the photo to them and see if they have any more, and as for the other house to the left of that the wifes brother in laws brother is living in that house now, and has been for about 10 years.
  19. This is a link to 1 of the apartments for sale, not very cheap! http://www.findaproperty.com/displayprop.aspx?edid=00&salerent=0&pid=7139382
  20. According to the drivers of the locos, at Toton, they are all stood due to lack of work. Some of them are in corporate logos, but most are in E.W.S colours, even though they were bought out by a German company. It is now D.B. Schenker. Another British company gone.
  21. There is a large stone gatepost, on main road at Watnall, I wonder if that is left over from the demolition. It is visible on street view just past trough road.
  22. Hi,Ashley there is a mineral line shown on the map,1 seems to end near Bulwell Basford station, 1 goes towards crown island and they meet at Cinderhill pit with the line going through Kimberley and possibly ending at or near Bennerley viaduct where it possibly meets the Erewash line just outside Cotmanhay. The information is on 2 os maps and true to form it is where they both meet. I will try and get my daughter to scan them for me and I can then post it on the site.
  23. Looking at a copy of an old os map from 1895,there is an old rail line near to moor farm, but the old canal is very close as well, and the canal would have been there before the railway, so it was possibly to provide access to the canal. Bits of the old canal can still be seen, just off of coventry lane.
  24. The loggerheads is closed, I read in the NEP that someone is planning to turn it into a restaurant. sorry dont know how to do link. It seems a strange location for a restaurant, as cliff road is a bit out of the way, and very little passing trade.
