  1. Just after Tug died there was a move to put some sort of memorial to him in the OMS. However, nobody thought to ask his widow if she approved. I lived just round the corner from Tug and his widow appeared at my door in floods of tears because of this. She thought that any memorial would be desecrated by the local yobs and I think she was right. Incidentally, not all ex City men were guardsmen. In fact very few were. We were all ex servicemen though apart from the few who had been cadets.
  2. I have a stream at the bottom of my garden and the frogs have already started arriving for the breeding season. A bit early this year. The water attracts all sorts especially foxes. We have at least four different ones visit and one of them plays with the dog.
  3. I have absolutely no objection to people smoking so long as they don't pollute the air I have to breath.
  4. The only problem I find with NTL is the service which, to be kind, is bloody abysmal. Recently, upon returning from holiday, I found a double bill as I hadn't paid the previous months bill before I went away. As I was opening the mail, the phone rang and it was NTL asking if I wanted to pay via credit card. I said that I would prefer to send a cheque which I would do that morning. The guy agreed. About an hour later, I found that my phone had been cut off. I contacted NTL from a friend's phone and was told that the guy I had spoken to had cut it off because I didn't want to pay by credi
  5. The TBI is on the other side of the road and on the other side of the bridge.
  6. The date were, from the left: May 1932, 1910, 1901, 1869, 1864, 1852, July 1875, Oct 1875, 1857, 1872 Jan 1877, Feb 1946, March 1947 and Nov 2000. The higest was Oct 1875. After a little work on the image, I came up with this:
  7. I'll have a look at the original picture Caz and see if they're readable. Should be; its a little over 19 meg.
  8. They are the dates of the various floods Caz.
  9. I can't remember where I saw it now, but someone on this forum expressed a wish to see the high water flood marks at Trent Bridge.
  10. Here's a piccy of the old Town Arms now 'Casa' for some God forsaken reason.
  11. The Town Arms / Aviary is now called Casa. I'll post a photo when I've got the sorted out.
  12. I used to live on Gate Street (back of the Crown) and cycled to central. Well remember the crowds of people going to work at Raleigh. Some time later, used to do all Raleigh's photography. Just look at it now.
  13. Thank you. You're right about the date. Never worked that patch was always on central div.
  14. I think the Town Arms was renamed the Aviary and is now called something else. If I am correct, it's on the right just before Trent Bridge. I'm at a wedding reception there soon so I'll take some photographs for you.
