  15. I seem to remember the name Leatherland but not in the context you spoke off. Any chance there were members of the Leatherland family in the Ransom Rd, Coppice Rd, St Anns Well Rd area back in the 1950's?
  16. Thank you for the welcome.... Happy New Year to you also.
  17. It could well be the same Mr Clarke. He was a nice teacher. I recall him making up stories for us about a talking white dog, and teaching music - percussion. I lived on St Anns Well Rd opposite Westminster Street - not far from the school which was on the corner of Duncombe St and St Anns I am now living in the hills outside of Perth Western Australia Photo of school and map of area attached.
  18. Hi - I lived in Stapleford 1964 - 1965 - on Toton Lane - I noticed many changes on my last trip back to UK. Also developing an interest in Nottingham history generally since beginning to climb the family tree.
  19. New to posting here - really enjoy following some of these forums.

  20. Wondering if anyone out there also went to St Ann's Board School., I was there 1949 - 1954 or thereabouts. Mr Salt was the headmaster, and Miss Brown one of the senior teachers. Also Mr Clarke. I believe the design of the building was based on that of a boat, and was built around 1900. It disappeared in the clearances in the 1970's
  21. Enjoying the holiday break between Christmas and New Year, very much enjoyed browsing the Christmas' past forum. Many memories evoked.! Just here to introduce myself.
  22. I used to live on St Anns Well Road near Bramleys the pork butcher, and pork pie was always for tea on a Friday night. At Christmas time there was always a large one ordered specially. Now living in Australia I made a point of making pork pies for several years running - and they were always popular especially with english friends here. Had a go at doing just one this Christmas and it has almost gone.
