  1. Thank you so much guys for all your help! It has been amazing! I just got to go and write the blasted thing now! 3000 words for Wednesday! Your replies will come in really useful!

  2. Hi!

I'm new on here and discovered this little gem after I was researching for my University degree and hoping that people on here could help. I am currently undertaking my History degree at Trent and have been asked to do an assignment on a reading of Nottingham for my Heritage module. What me and my group have proposed is to look at the theatres and cinemas of today (and the past) and to see how these buildings can be read as part of the urban landscape. What I would need from you guys is any information or pictures on theatres and cinemas that are still visible today or have disappeared, and any stories that you may wish to share about these types of places. If there have been similar topics that have been discussed and you know the URL, please post it in here! If you guys know any cinemas that no longer exist in the city of Nottingham, please let me know and if you know any information about the following, that will be excellent!

    1. The Nottingham Film Theatre

    2. Moulin Rouge Cinema

    3. The Cavendish (?)

    4. ABC Elite

    5. ABC Nottingham

    6. Gaumont Theatre

    7. Playhouse

    8. Odeon/The Ritz

    9. Futurist Cinema

    10. Tatler

    11. Classic

    12. Metropole

    13. Victoria Cinema

    14. The Canon

    15. Showcase

    16. Low Row Picture House

    17. Hibbert's Pictures

    18. MGM/Chapel Bar Cinema/Carlton/ABC/The Canon Film Theatre

    19. Broadway Cinema

    20. Picture Palace

If you know if I have repeated any (due to change in name) and where abouts they are located, that will also be a big help!

Your help will be much appreciated!
