  1. do you know stan if there was another block built in the same style but fronting lower parliament street near the ice stadium....as a child i use to wonder who lived in this depressing building..not there anymore

  4. just up from redmaynes was a boutique called MADCAP ( this was very trendy for nottm in the late seventies) use to buy alot of clubbing clothes in there.....

  6. yes you got the right street......so much of town has changed, some for the better but some for the worse....i love hockley for its quirky shops and great bars, but bridlesmith gate will always have a special nostalgic feel to it.........anyone got old photos of the area?
  7. greyhound street had keith halls (hairdressers) at the top, and a couple of little shops...think it also had some disgusting public loos...its a street i never go down now...in fact charlie bridlesmith gate ( where the hippo was ) is one of the nicest streets in town....
  8. use to go to thursday night at bramcote memorial hall..won miss bramcote in 1967 LOL.....also went to the shed in beeston.....went last year to see geno washington ...they still put on good soul nights at the shed ..... but nothing can replace the bramcote memorial hall and eaches shop .....good times

  10. last week i went to a gig in the golden fleece on mansfield road and it so reminded me of the grosvenor days of the 7o's ( the average age was 24!!) but very much like the crowd back then
  11. 71-73 was my time at the grosvenor..if i didn't have the car i too would have been on the sandiacre 4 into town and then the city bus up mansfield road..what a trek but loved the vibe

  15. the venue will depend on numbers but what about members declaring their interest, and us still living here come up with an itinery to make a special day or shuold i say a nottstalgic one

  17. non such was fantastic ( had a second shop on western boulevard ) flannels is now where non such was..can you remember the rocking horse outside...my kids spent so much time on that thing that i had to buy one..its still in my front porch and although i haven't any grandkids yet , all my 5 and their mates have worn old neddy out!!!!....
  18. the childrens clothes shop had been there for years...the original owner joan also had a smaller shop on bramcote hills..the eye hospital has now been converted into flats........can't sell them!!!!
  19. reject shop was the far end by the bus station, before house of fraser came along.....think it was next to browns the hairdressers? it was a great place to kit out your first home....can you also remember spoils, where zara is now on high street...
  20. what about NAUGHTY IN NOTTINGHAM, starring the hippo crew, the arriba lot ( a job there for beefy) and anyone who knew stu morris ? !laughing!
