  1. That was such a great track, I am away from Nottingham now, but are there still venues, dances that still play the old sounds, have a box full of the old Tamla Singles from the era, must get them onto MP3 soon - last TM performer I saw in Nottingham was Jr. Walker at Rock City, brilliant Gig, what a cool sound that RoadRunner song is
  2. "Some Chicken" - hey! haven't heard that name since...! well, since the last night I saw them..I guess around '80 - bizarrely I can't remember what they were like, but I do remember we used to call them some turkey for me working evenings it was great to be able to see a band after work where previously most bands started around 9-10, but Punk era they only came on late when they were thouroughly rat-ars*d lol
  3. Here is a picture taken of my class at TBS at what I think must be my last junior year - I am top row, second from left after our form teacher, can't be sure of the year, may be '64 - does anybody recognise themselves here or know the date, can remember a few names still! I think the right hand teacher was a student, but can't be sure, any info' appreciated
  4. You're spot on mick2me, topics like this really need pictures to make them work, I have a couple of others from TBS, Will post them (hopefully tonight) in the relevant area. I noticed whilst looking through previous posts that there are a number of pictures that are no longer viewable (the red crosses) are these links all broken now, or does the forum have a picture archive for them? Cheers, Paul.
  5. I have only recently found & joined this forum, previously I had bumped into the BossEyed kippers site, but this Bosworth School was unknown to my memory of the Meadows where I was born, I attended Trent Bridge school after Collygate infants, below is the only picture I have of this school! My name is Paul Booth & I am sitting far right, the lad on the left I remember to be Kevin Dunford, next to him, not sure but I think her name is Susan, the girl on the right is Olga who I believe was from the Ukraine, also not sure of the date, have forgotten the English system over the years, but
  6. It was on Hamilton Road running through from Sherwood Rise to Hucknall Road, don't know of any connection with Arnold though!
  7. Hi Frank, George Christodoulou & son Andy (or Andre') worked it, George was some guy, came to Nottingham after losing everything in the Cyprus divide & worked very hard to to establish himself, was sorry to here that the Dorchester closed (a few years ago?) & is now housing/flats? I believe. It certainly was a very successful & busy Restaurant, I must have sweated a few gallons working in that kitchen!
  8. Hi Mariag, Don't remember the decor too much (buried in the kitchen for most of the time!) but the place had a very good atmosphere between the staff owners & customers, that's the beauty of a Restaurant when everything clicks - good food, service & a great bunch of regular customers, it's why we are discussing it now after all these years lol It was very hard work as a one man job plus someone washing up (no room for more bodies) but I was left pretty much to my own devises, would have enjoyed a full time position there but as I said, was just temping for holidays, you can be sure tha
  9. Thanks for the welcome mick2me, never had a great memory for names but vaguely recall the Ariba club although I am sure if I saw a pic' alongside a name the mists would clear lol, went to the Ad-lib/Sandpiper a lot & Rock City of course!
  10. I worked there as a relief chef for a month late 70's, for a guy I new who was their main chef, his name was Pasquale Sorrentino & I had trained under him in the Dorchester Restaurant, Hamilton Road? the Rhinegold wasa great place owned by a guy who was a BA pilot & his Stewardess partner, he was always dead keen on supplying me with anything I needed - would just tell me where he was flying to that day & would pick me up some stuff at the local market there - imagine thet hapening today lol. the waitresses were all attractive professional girls from the city who worked the evenin
