  1. Funny that, My Mum was an Usherette at both Cinemas too.
  2. Just to let you know GOSSLING is how my name is spelt, I was absent because I used to have to do lots of errands and stuff in those days, unlike some of the luckier kids, but I do remember lots of the names on there, Helen King, is one of those missing, the Blind Music Teacher was Mr Saunders, the girls all loved him, I remember Dancing the Polka as well as other dances in his lessons in the new building, it was also used for P.E. I remember the ropes and other equipment in there, also the Dinner Hall, my Wife was the Caretaker there for many years after it became the Blue Bell Hill Community
  3. I remember me dad saying dab in when he wanted me to hurry up, me and me mates used to say bags next go, or bags fost go, must be hundreds of these old sayings lost in the new world, like bags ya coke, bring em back I say!
  4. I went to blue bell in the 50's up to 1961, I was a bell monitor for a while, the headmaster's name was mr s p leigh, I was told on a visit to the library on carlton road near the co op that he used to write short plays too, they showed us some of them, The deputy headmaster was mr lowe, He was our class teacher, class 6 I think, he had a deformed hand, again I was told he had tried to rescue someone from a burning plane crash and that's how it happened.
  5. I used to live in the corner house on alfred street central opposite the great freeman arms pub, they delivered the ale by a dray with shire horses, I used to give one a slice of bread, think it's name was paddy, sadly I heard it was killed by a bus later in it's life, made me very sad to hear it he was a beauty too.
  6. I used to go to the santa fe and the carousel, I remember the silly dance we used to do at the santa fe, sort of stand in a circle, put one leg in and just, move your arms low by your side, silly or what? the first time I heard come on by the stones was there so must have been around 64 I reckon, The carousel was a bit more like a club, I remember we had to queue on the stairs before we were let in, inside it had them purple lights that showed ya dandruff up summat silly, and a few quiet corners for smooching and stuff.
