'ere we go again.....North Notts this morning.

Wish I could show you lot a cartoon from years ago...At many prerecorded TV quiz shows the studio audience are directed by a guy in the wings off camera holding up a board which would say "Applause" In this cartoon the two competing teams on stage sat behind a banner that said 'Sexually Transmitted Disease Staff Quiz...... Off stage was the little man holding up his board for the audience which simply said 'CLAP'

I was long distance driving in a van WITH NO HEATER....that was an extra and the boss was a tight sod. Driving from Nottingham to Bristol and the West country then round Devon and across to South Wales...No motorways in those days. Not funny pulling into every lay-by and scraping the windscreen....inside and out. Carni...most birds have no sense of smell whatsoever and talk of birds knowing if you handle their eggs by your leaving a scent is an old wives tale. As usual in nature there are a few exceptions...certain geese,vultures and the kiwi have a keen sense of smell, but the majority, like us humans, rely much more on sight. .

Always remember a Nottingham chef chatting to camera next to the Robin Hood statue...he mentioned the Castle and the director immediately stopped the filming. The following had me laughing... Pancakes never made it over here...strange. I remember in the sixties a pancake shop opened in Leicester.Every type of pancake you could think of...it lasted three months. And yet the other Yankee fast foods have caught on over the years.

I've asked this many times but never got an answer....boiling water kills weeds...FACT! What I want to know is (And I don't own one myself) These steam cleaner thingys....are they hot enough to kill weeds...Can someone who owns one go outside and try it on some and let me know?

Never cared for the Barrel....but it did have it's uses. I sold my van to a bloke from Stoke on Trent...said to him "When you get somewhere near Arnold ring me and I'll come and meet you." A while later the phone rang.... Since when did anyone working on the land need to look at a clock?....Only the rich buggers sitting in an estate office and not on a tractor. Real farmers work when it's light enough to start and finish the job... not by what a gadget on the wall says.

Welcome...and just one question I have.... I'd like to know why the Romans ignored what we now know as Nottingham for 400 years.... A possible coin hoard found at Wilford in the 18th century and another in the Sherwood Rise area in the 19th Roman finds in the Iron age fort at Broxtowe . Forts and villas at Barton in Fabis,Dorket Head Arnold,Calverton,Farnsfield....Bridges or fords near Fiskerton and another near Wilford church. And of course the Fosse and settlements in that area. But the area of present day Nottingham with its natural fortifications in the sandstone cliffs from the Castle

I have no objection to their dress provided their women show their faces....as for culture (prayers,fastings etc) that surely is their business if it doesn't infringe on our hard won freedoms....especially with their treatment of women.

What makes me sick is where they put the damned mobile things to catch speeders going just over the limit on open roads.. I live on an old council estate with a main bus route going through....It's like a race track out there and I know from experience some idiots are going well over 70 in a thirty zone....they never EVER get their arses on here where they are needed....It's a miracle kids aren't killed every day with these idiots around here..
