  1. Hi, I used to live on the estate behind the Grey Goose until i left Notts in the 1960s,and it was a fantastic pub in those days ,if you didnt get there early enough at weekends when there were live bands on you had to queue up till some customers came out,we used to call it Mucky Duck and Dirty Duck and Pixie i think the supermarket opposite was once called MICA (not sure how to spell it) but that was after i had left.Someone told me they are building a care home on the goose site, but not sure.
  2. Cliff ton Thank you, that is a good image of the church arch, there was also other statues and it just all looked creepy, i had always known about it ,but kind off forgotten until Fch782c mentioned it,i don't know if its still there or gone for ever now there has been a cafe built.I will try to find out.
  3. Not sure if you mean our house Beefsteak or mick2me's, Mam didn't have an interest in CB's but my sis and bro in law did, they lived two doors down from Phil and Sheila, they did have an Ariel and went into it in a big way, sorry if you meant someone else.
  4. Hiya fch782c,if you click on the outside link on the post before this you can get on to Ranmoor Road behind the Mustard Seed and just see the stone church arch sticking up in the garden, cant give you any info today about it as my one sister says she to cant remember its story,i will keep trying tho.
  5. I'm not sure when they moved in as i had already gone, but you soon get to know your neighbors round there and sometimes shiela would be at mams having a Park Drive and cuppa when i would go home visiting,Our home was right next door so we saw plenty of each other,I phoned my sister who lives two doors away to check and she confirmed they are still there. We were all into the CB at the time, only having a dabble nothing serious for us,my name was sweet martini, because it was my fave tipple at the time.
  6. Hello mick2me,Yes you are right Phil and Shiela still live there, they were our next door neighbours,I see mainly Shiela when i go home as i still have two sisters there and they always ask each other to get togethers,I don't know phil as well as Shiela but My mam got on well with them both.small world.
  7. Hi fch782c,I know exactly where you mean and it always gave me the creeps, still does, it has been there years i did know the story behind it but can't for the life of me remember,i still have sisters in Gedling and i will phone tomorrow and then put the story on here for you.
  8. Thank you for your information Pixie,I haven't been to Gedling for a while so i am not sure what is happening with the building that is there now,but if you look back along the posts on this topic, there is a photograph and a map posted by other members that you may find interesting, the big house that was there could well have been the doll factory, and could have been damaged in the war, which would explain why it was derilict in the 1950s.
  9. Hello Micheal173,sorry i have no information about the fire you mentioned as i was no longer at Notts in the 1970s, but i saw your address and realised we lived very close to each other my family lived at Berry Hill Grove, and i lived there until i left Notts in 1966.Could our family,s know each other.

  11. Hi Sneintongal,I left Notts in the 1960s and i worked in the lace market, the factory i worked at was on Woolpack Lane it was called City Uniform, the name tells what we used to make,I never found anywhere in the West Mids to replace what i had to leave behind,I do not know if City Uniform is still there or even if Woolpack lane is still there.
