  1. Yes,could be Wymeswold.I think that was a WW2 airfield and I reckon the hangars in the picture are a WW2 type though I stand to be corrected by forum members with better military/aviation knowledge than me !. Here is another photo, looking from the gates, seems to be on a narrow country lane with more hangars/warehouses opposite. The area around the hangars is surrounded by high,War Dept./MOD style chain-link fencing.
  2. Another shot of the same location, looking away from the buildings and out of the gate. All shots at this location seemed to be close -in with no real look at the surrounding area.
  3. Bamber, probably not !.I'll put my glasses on and try again !.
  4. I think that's another one solved quickly.I would agree that it is Trent Road. Are we ready for another one ?,this one might be a bit trickier.......
  5. Yes plantfit, any local gossip would be very interesting !.The locals usually have a lot to say about the 'lord of the manor'.I have recently heard some quite shocking tales about a certain member of the House of Lords who resides just six miles from where I live. I tried to obtain the title deeds to Barnby Manor from the LR but was unable to,I think it is because I am using Firefox
  6. More fantastic info Bamber. It's amazing how my simple quest for the location of Woodcote is opening out into such an interesting story.Mr Snipe was a obviously very lonely and must have enjoyed the people and the activity during the filming of Boon only to return to his loneliness again afterwards.Being suspicious of people's attitudes towards him he must have felt Barnby Manor was a good place to be because of it's seclusion, despite being perhaps only 200 yds from the A17 and a couple of miles away from Newark it could be a hundred miles away from the nearest civilisation. The Manor seems to h
  7. A tragic end for an interesting personality, even if a lot of people may disagree with his actions over the years.I wonder if this suicide was a reason that some people who actually knew that Barnby Manor was Woodcote Park were reticent to let on,perhaps thinking that we had darker motives for knowing it's location ?.
  8. mick2me, Struggling to post images from photobucket or picasa using insert image button, could you tell me how to do it please ?. Avocet
  9. That's the one.Another one solved in double quick time.
  10. Here's another one for today,should be easy...... Boon location : 2
  11. He certainly didn't seem to be a very popular chap.I hope plantfit can get some tales of the manor from the locals.
  12. Well done !, A bit easy that one ,I admit, but more to come.
  13. Bamber, You are definately a mine of information !.It is really interesting to find out so much of the background and history of Barnby Manor,it makes it more than just a grand house hidden in the trees !. I have just started a new Boon location thread in 80's Nottingham ,this first one should be fairly easy but I have some more elusive ones once I have put the photos through the imaging program to make them suitable to put online.
  14. Due to popular demand here is another filming location from the 1989 series of Boon for everyone to find.I think this first one should be pretty easy for anyone with a good knowledge of the city, but I have plenty more, some of which could be very tricky !.Photos are online on the link below. Boon Location : 1
  15. A good response from Martin Underwood. Barnby Manor is definately 'Woodcote Park'.We were lucky to see the two chaps in the Land Rover who came from the house and to have them confirm it from my photos taken from Boon and also by the fact they were aware that Boon was filmed there. Like Rog has already posted ,when the leaves have fallen it will be possible to see the house from the edge of the property on the road to Barnby in the Willows. You can just about glimpse the house from the gates shown in plantfits photo and the distinctive gas lamps are still present.(I didn't like to hang arou
  16. Couple of photos of Barnby Manor during our visit this morning .... Barnby Manor
  17. Rog, After what you said this morning about a possible suicide at Barnby Manor I found this.......... 'British television presenter TIM HADCOCK-MACKAY has committed suicide in the grounds of his 19th century manor home. His body was found last week (29JUL06) in woodland near Barnby Moor Hall, Retford ,Nottinghamshire, the home he shared with boyfriend TORQUIL MACKENZIE-BUIST. The 43-year-old business expert presented shows DITCH THE DAY JOB and TIME TO GET YOUR HOUSE IN ORDER, but two months ago his marketing company went bust with debts of more than $1.8 million (GBP1 million). Before turni
  18. I second that Rog,really nice to meet you and Bamber. I can confirm that Barnby Manor is the location, had our photo taken next to the red/white lifting barrier next to the lodge on the long driveway to the stable block and house, the one with Neil Morrissey on his motorbike in my Woodcote Views. We could glimpse the house through the trees and the gate lodge with the unusual roof is the one from Boon and is next to the A17. We also had the location confirmed as Woodcote Park in Boon by two gentlemen who came from the Barnby Manor in a Land Rover. Avocet
  19. About 10.30,on the road from Barnby village that goes up to the A17 ?
  20. New Boon location thread with pictures coming up in the next couple of days.
  21. mick2me, I've got a few more unknown locations from Boon if everyone is still up for the challenge, something to do now the nights are drawing in !.I reckon these could be real stinkers to find. Should I start a new thread or carry this one on ? Rog, I will be having a look at Barnby Manor tomorrow, what sort of time will you be there ? Avocet
  22. In a post a while back I said I had traced the gateway shots and some driveway shots to Thrumpton Hall,I had some photos but didn't put them online because I had traced them but I wil put them up now just for the sake of interest. Some village and country road shots were around Thrumpton also. I suppose they didn't use Barnby Manor's entrance because it was out onto the busy A17. Woodcote / Barnby Manor views
  23. Rog, Most probably Sunday.I will post idea of time tomorrow.
