In 1961 when I was 15 I was a drivers m8 at Crawfords Biscuits in the railway yard just over the canal bridge on Wilford rd, when they joined United Biscuits in 1963 all us m8s were made redundant but Poo Bear also worked there he not thank me for telling you, so any way a few years later I took a job with Watmoughs on Paddock st I drove an old Thame Trader delivering lollipops and confectionery all over the country while I was there they had shops near the Theatre Royal one on Parliament st and one at Clifton the manager was a perfectionist and a wally I forget his name but he real

Watmoughs sweet factory was on Paddock street between Woolworths on Lister gate and Maid Marion way i was a driver for them in in 1966 , they also had a shop on Parliament st and one at the side of the Theatre Royal i remember that one because an arsehole of a traffic warden gave me a ticket when i was unloading there one day, it was my first driving job an everything went well till i blew the engine up on a Thames Trader van when returning back from Northamptonshire the cylinder head gasket had gone and i filled up an whole lot of empty lollipop jars with water to get home with and old

Chris you bring the memories flooding back in the late 1950s my old man took me into Freemans and brought me 2 premium bonds when they first came out i have them to this day and won boggar all on them and i remember Marsdens shop at top of Broxtowe lane specially the bacon slicer and the wire with a wooden handle that they cut the cheese with Purdys paper shop with all the dinky and matchbox model cars on display in the window what would they be worth now Charlies barber shop where you could get a basin cut for 1 /6 Len Orchards beeroff where i went for my grans ale straight out the p -
thats spot on one pic was original and the other is myself cloned on to another pic of my girlfriend ( who is now my wife and mine fuhrer) ,done with ulead photo express a software programme on my pc and dunna listen to pooh bear he was just jealous of my damm good looks back in the 60s it was him who was the ugly ducking lol .i do have a couple of more vids from the 50s and 60s with nottingham people and locations but i cant upload them on to this site can you help

Yea this video has been blanked by utube due to copywrite the world has gone mad they dont want us to have any anything not even our memories every day they are chipping a bit more from us they dont want us to smoke drink or drive our cars they just want to work us to death they even want to take our bank holidays off us now the feel good factor has gone every body looks miserable there is nothing to look forward to anymore why do we put up with this. Hi Mick i just thought you would like a bit more info on the bikers video it was made by myself with a few old pics from my teenage years in the sixties. Most of the people in it lived in and around broxtowe and we used to meet at a youth club housed in the main hall of player secondary school and we used to hang out on broxtowe lane outside hadlums chippy and the cocked hat pub most of them will now be in their middle sixties and retired but it is nice to look back. all the best colin (tazraz7)
